In 2013, there were some fantastic add-ons and hardware released for this interest / hobby / obsession of ours.  Mutley's Hangar is again acknowledging and rewarding the best of these in the 2013 Mutley's Hangar Awards.
 
The Award categories are detailed below.  The Awards are now open for nominations and nominations should be products released in the 2013 calendar year.  Please put forward your nominations for any or all of the categories.  Whilst there is a dedicated Freeware category, freeware add-ons can be nominated in any category.
 
The nomination period closes 2359 hrs UTC, 21 Feb 14, after which nominations will be collated and the Forum Moderators will cast their votes for the winners in each category.  
 
Aircraft and Scenery is broken down into the specified sub-categories.  There is also a “Crème de la Crème” (Best Add-On of the Year) Award.  This is not a nominating category.  All category winners become automatic entries for the “Crème de la Crème” (Best Add-On of the Year) Award and this will also be decided by the Forum Moderators

The 2013 items I vote for  are: in Bold

Aircraft: General Aviation: = Aerosoft DHC6-300 Twin Otter Tundra/Float/Amphibian addition

Commercial Aircraft = MJC Q400-8

Scenery: Area Scenery = ORBX Scotland

General Aviation Airport;  ORBX Bella Coola (CYBD)

Regional Airport; = ORBX Kenai (PEAN)
 
International Airport: = Flightbeam Washington Dulles (KIAD)

Utility;
Freeware; = ORBX Tipella (CBB7)
 
Hardware; Agree with der Boss;..........LG 29'' LG 29EA93-P Ultra-wide Monitor

Sim Changer; FTX Global
 
Can't Live Without This; Fresh Air

•Aircraft, General Aviation= A2A C172R (They did a nice job on this plane)

 

•Commercial Aircraft= Majestic Software MJC8 Q400 (Do not have but come on, it's pretty cool)

 

•Historical Aircraft= Alabeo D17 Staggerwing (Finally got a decent looking Staggerwing)

 

•Scenery: North American Airstrips Volume 1 (Proud of Misha and love the strips)

 

•Freeware= Ryan Navion B (All the freeware guys are good)
 
•Sim Changer= FTXGlobal (Big change from default FSX textures)

 

•Can't Live Without This= My Wife (She's pretty cool)

Aircraft:

General Aviation / Business / Corporate Aircraft - Carenado's C90 for X-plane. A real treat for X-Plane. Watch the engines or suffer the consequences.

Commercial Aircraft (including commuter / regional aircraft) - Majestic Dash-8. With its sim model working outside fsx, the dash-8 is easy on frames.

Historical Aircraft - SibWings AN-2 Colt. A beautiful aircraft that's a hoot to fly and is rendered beautifully.

Military Aircraft.

Scenery:

Area Scenery (region / country / state / area);

General Aviation Airport - Beti-X CZST Stewart for X plane 10. Finally, a quality airport that can compete with Orbx in X plane.

Regional Airport - Orbx Kenai airport PAEN. A great airport for exploring the great outdoors of Alaska.

International Airport. - Fly Tampa's CYUL Montreal. Fly Tampa once again pushes the boat out and delivers a cracker of an airport.

Utility; Hifly's Activesky next. Seriously the best weather engine for fsx.

Freeware - Chris K's Toronto city airport for X plane. Top class stuff for free.

Hardware - Volair's sim rig. - a great addition for simming. Not cheap but you'll never need another desk.

Sim Changer - Hifly's Activesky Next. Finally, a weather engine that really works as it should.

Can't Live Without This - Aerosoft's twin otter extended. A top aircraft that's become a go to aircraft for bush flying.

Surprise Package - SibWings AN-2 Colt. An unexpected hit with me.

Me and the kids think she was sent here by aliens and I do believe they reboot her every year because she keep getting more beautiful each and every year.

My input to this would be as follows.
  • Aircraft:
    • General Aviation / Business / Corporate Aircraft;   A2A Cessna 172 Trainer
    • Commercial Aircraft (including commuter / regional aircraft);   Majestic Dash 8
    • Historical Aircraft;  Got to agree with Jess on the SibWing AN-2
    • Military Aircraft.   No idea, not my cup of tea really, although I think the Twotter does have military uses (there is a Norwegian Air Force livery in the package after all), so Twin Otter X Extended
  • Scenery:
    • Area Scenery (region / country / state / area); FTX Global Base package (or if worldwide is considered to big of an area I'd go with FTX Scotland)
    • General Aviation Airport; FTX EGTR Elstree Airfield (based solely on those I've tried)
    • Regional Airport; and FTX EGHI Southampton Airport
    • International Airport. Aerosoft Mega Airport Oslo V2.0
  • Utility; Not that I've tried it, but based on what I've seen of it, Professional Flight Planner X
  • Freeware: OzX 4.3 upgrade (OK, the base package wasn't released in 2013, but the upgrade does add a bunch of new airstrips)
  • Sim Changer; FTX Global Base Package
  • Can't Live Without This; FTX Global Base Package
  • Surprise Package. Hard one to pick, but I will go with the A2A C172 Trainer. Not having used any A2A products before I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail in the package, and I stumbled upon it just days before it came out.

Best release in every catagory is Manfred Jahn's C-117D and C-47  :)
