It's fortunate that it wasn't worse. A B-17 was lost to an engine fire in the US a couple of years ago. They made a successful gear-down forced landing in a field and everyone aboard got out unhurt but the aircraft was totally destroyed by the fire. The Lanc is even more rare than the B-17 and no one can fault them for being very, very conservative with her, including plenty of testing of the new engine to be sure all is as it should be.
I'm very happy the aircraft was saved.

Really nice set of a really nice model.
I like JF's heavies...very good quality stuff. I don't have the 747, but am loving their A319 and A321.
Today I was just sitting watching 747s taking off at SFO on 28R while on my lunch break ...apparently today's 747 runway as that was all that was using the 28 side for take offs probably cuz of the windy day?...the 747s were taking off into the wind while all the A-3**'s were using the perpendicular set.
I SWAGed (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) that 747s are bit dicey in xWind takeoffs. and the Airbus series does better with xWinds. Fact or Fiction any
Tin soldiers
(Actually, when I was a young lad 4 or 5yrs old, me and my younger brother had a full set of lead soldiers, tanks, trucks, field guns etc etc)
I wonder if that accounts for my hair loss??? Lead poisoning.
