  1. Thanks for the response, Dai. Landing characteristics are extremely important for me in a flight simulator, and this isn't the only plane that I have issues with in this department. Some stop far too quickly, whilst others (like this one) suffer from lack of decent touchdown and rollout sound effects, or have less than impressive thrust reverse sounds. It's rather disappointing to have a great flight, and then be confronted with almost total silence on touchdown. No matter how great a plane is at landing, there will always be "rattles, groans and rumbles" during rollout. Without them, the sens
  2. After another test of the DC-6B Demo, there are three issues that irritate me..... 1. The "phase shifting" of the engine sounds when banking, or switching between views. 2. The total lack of touchdown and rollout sound effects. 3. No feeling of "weight" on touchdown. It feels like a butterfly landing, not a large four engined plane. I guess that the full package also exhibits these problems?
  3. Dai, Just a quick note to say thanks for informing me that there is a DEMO version of the DC-6B. I installed that yesterday, and I am rather impressed with what I have seen (and indeed, heard). The shiny American Airlines colour scheme looks very nice, and the engines sound awesome! I will have another quick test flight tonight, and see what the landing characteristics are like, but it looks promising for a weekend purchase
  4. What did you expect from the die hard ORBx cult followers?
  5. Yes, the edit function appears to be working now. You will notice that I am now a beta tester again
  6. On a side note, I can't seem to edit my post. Is there a problem with the code?
  7. I am a beta tester for UK2000, and I agree that the 2D people look rather out of place in such a high quality scenery package. In fact, I have never liked seeing 2D "anything" in my simulations. The best example of this would be race simulations like GT Legends and GTR2. Whenever I see an addon track with 2D cardboard cutout tree lines, I want to scream, particularly if the rest of the track scenery is very high quality. If I can, I look for these "tree planes" in the .TRK file, and manually remove them! Similarly, there is a library file in the UK2000 Common Library/Scenery folder called Lib_
  8. I appreciate everything that Darren and Vicki have done for me and the flightsim community as a whole over the past three or four years. They have released a handful of truly excellent products, and I really wouldn't want to fly without them. However, I became used to Darren being communicative (with both myself via PM, and also on the forum), which is why I am baffled by the almost complete silence over the past year. Obviously the FTX England saga "interfered with normal proceedings" (so to speak), and also Darren's ill health early in the year. However, I have been looking forward to ES Isl
  9. Mark, What we really need is for Earth Simulations to release an upgrade for the Treescapes trees in England and Wales. The Scotland Treescapes trees have more variety, and they are also correctly scaled. The England & Wales Treescapes trees are currently too large, and they all look quite similar. This is far better than none at all, but after seeing the Scotland trees, I am desperate to get these upgraded! I just hope that we don't have to wait too long. Darren has been very quiet for the past year, which is not like him at all. I had hoped that the Isle of Man scenery package would ha
  10. What "AI" are you referring to? The UK2000 Xtreme airports do not include AI planes. You need to install a separate AI package for that.
  11. You aren't the only one who suffers from OOM errors, Kevin. I get them on a regular basis in DX9 mode if I fly to or from extremely detailed scenery areas (eg. London, ES Shawbury Fields etc). I can't understand how others get away with it when running so many detailed addons at very high detail levels. These OOM errors almost completely disappear when using DX10 Preview mode, but that introduces one or two other errors that can be unacceptable (eg. doubled up runway lights/markings, missing AI plane textures etc). I know that I can cure the latter with Addon Converter X, but when I tried to l
  12. Well. that does look rather good. Like Mike has indicated above, it will be the towns and cities that will be the key to how impressive this product becomes. I am curious to know if these will be filled with autogen buildings and trees, although I can imagine some serious horsepower being required to run it if that is the case....
  13. It depends when you are there, but I generally start my flights at dawn, and I often see up to 20 AI airliners parked at EGNX. That's using Ultimate Traffic 2, plus some extra WoAI airlines that I have added to UT2.
  14. Sorry to hear about your mother, Ray. I hope she makes a swift recovery.
  15. Nice to hear from you, Ray. I am looking forward to version 4.2 with the pylons for Scotland North. That model of the Monar Dam also looks good
  16. Ray, Are you intending to build Dungeness Nuclear Power Station at some point? It would be a nice landmark to see when flying to and from Lydd. By the way, I am the Chris Low that you corresponded with via email a few times. I noticed that version 4.1 of the FSX Power Project had a few extra wind farms, and a larger pylon network file than I had installed, so I joined this site, and grabbed it!
