  1. Did any of you see the dawn this morning? Sorry, John, this is a U.K. thing! I was amazed at the colour of the sky to the east: As you'd expect, the contrails were dark, like smoke: You can just make one out above the post and slightly to the right. But within a minute or two, the sky had gone back to 'normal': Quite unusual - the 'aurora' effect is most likely caused by the below zero temperatures inland to the east of us. As we're on the coast, we get very little frost - just a 'dusting'. Enjoy the sunshine - but wrap up!! (That means you, Ed!!) Cheers - Dai. <--This is
  2. Hi John! Just got back from Ajaccio after engine problems - hence time lag. What a leg you had, eh? I guess that's why I always fly in perfect weather..... And with all that technology behind you, it's a miracle you got to Palma at all! No, seriously, well done - I do like the A/C - maybe a bit complicated, but, if it handles well, then you're more than half way home, I guess. I've been in and out of LEPA a few times (in the eighties) - once, after take-off, we hit some turbulence - the s*ck-bags came out, the nuns behind us started saying their prayers, and the cabin staff put Ave Maria on t

    It's snowing!!

Sch-yeah - you're right, Panos - it is snowing!! Sorry about the poor quality, but I'm on maximum zoom, and you can't get the lens quality these days, I said "You can't ect ect....". Cheers - Dai.
:kuhl!:
  5. I found this "Operation Sky-Light" mission on AVSIM. It is authored by Gera Godoy C, who presents you with the task of finding an Alien landing site in Siberia. It's for FSX only, I think, but I had a great time searching a fairly large area before finding the objective. Click on the link to see a screen shot: http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/shortlands/Siberianchallenge010.jpg The AVSIM link is here - http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=siberia.zip&CatID=fsxfp Have fun! Gera says he will try to upload more challenges in the near future. Cheers - Dai.
  6. I can't confirm the A/C, but say Hello to John, when you get there! Oh yes, ask the Captain to do a Victory Roll as you fly over Pembrokeshire, so I know which 'plane to wave at. Cheers - Dai.
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MUTLEY'S NEW HANGAR!!! ONE YEAR OLD TODAY - WELL DONE JOE!! Many thanks from us all, mate! Cheers - Dai.
  8. Thanks very much for your comments - much appreciated! The ATWC is a magic opportunity to delve into different parts of the world, and I really enjoyed doing the research for this one - Pam and I love Italy and we'd recently been to Venice for a holiday. Yes, Trasimento is where Hannibal defeated the Romans for about the fifth time - a special place. And Corsica is somewhere I really want to go to, now that I've read up about it - all that granite and charcuterie! Ciao! - Dai.
  9. On the pencil front, here's a snippet from one of Ian Dury's songs: Einstein can't be classed as witless, He claimed atoms were the littlest. When he did a bit of split-inimus - He scared everybody sh less. Van Gogh did some eye-ball pleasers - Must have been a pencil squeezer; He didn't do the 'Mona Lisa' - That was some Italian geezer! Refrain: Ain't 'alf been some clever ba rds - Lucky bl**ders, lucky bl**ders, ain't 'alf been some etc etc And a Happy Valentine's Day to you all!! Cheers - Dai.
  10. Thanks for the HU, Simon! If the jpegs don't show then try here: http://www.micom.net/oops/ Some excellent photo's - enjoy. Cheers - Dai.
  11. Hi Joe - Pam wants to know where you got the cardboard scenery from! She says the rocks remind her of an old Dr Who episode from the seventies...... I can't tell you what she thought about your chopper!?! Cheers - Dai.

  15. Venice - Tessera (LIPZ) To Ajaccio - Campo Dell'Oro (LFKJ) Welcome, Fellow Hangarians, once again - today we travel from misty Venice to the magical Isle of Corsica. From a city dredged from the marshes to a citadel chisseled from granite. From Italy to France, yes, really - France, remember, Ajaccio is the birthplace of one Napoleon Bonaparte....... We travel in the company of a recently qualified commercial pilot, who is starting a career with an old established European air-cargo company - Vorona Aviation. Edward Valentine, who prefers to be called 'Eddie' is waiting at the main airport i

Love the wind-sock, Joe - is it animated to respond to the wind?!? Aerosoft are the Bizz, eh? Brilliant detail - I'm saving up for Lukla-X at the moment, and then there's the new MoBo, etc etc! Thanks for sharing - look forward to the review - let us know where to find it. Cheers - Dai. :eyebrow:
  18. Hey, Josh - you brought the snow! Venice is supposed to be warm - NOT - BRRRR!! Really enjoyed the flight - nice A/C and the pre-touchdown shots at Tessera were ACE! C'mon up to the bar for a quick drink before you're off... And welcome to the ATWC. Cheers - Dai. :eyebrow:

    Happy Birthday

Hey, Simon - have a good one! Enjoy the party! Best Wishes from Dai.
  21. I remember, when I used to go across the pond for my job, that a colleague used to say he always tried 'to pack a bomb'. He said, in explanation: 'The chances of there being a bomb on my flight are about 10,000, or more, to one. If I take a bomb, as well, then the chances will be more than 100 million to one'. You couldn't argue with him, and you can't argue with irrational people. As I see it, anyone bent on taking a plane down, by smuggling a device onboard, is least likely to draw attention to him/her-self. Dressing up in colourful, ethnic costume/dress, etc is probably not the best way t
  22. Well done, Simon - glad you got there safely! Did you follow the motorways?!? Like joe said, pity the radio broke - do get it mended for your next flight - it can be very lonely up there, not being able to talk to anyone...... Loved the moody skies - and both airports were very colourful. Thanks for sharing - cheers - Dai.
  23. Danmarkshavn (BGDH), Greenland's most northerly airfield, was closed yesterday (5th February 2008) after a freak hailstorm which left giant hail-stones littering the runway. U.S. scientists say that this is yet another pointer to the devastating effects of global warming. More information at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/feb/05/climatechange Take care, lads! Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy:
  24. Thanks for the feedback, Steve - and to you John. BTW, the sub comes from FS-Shipyards: http://www.fs-shipyards.org/ I just modified the aircraft.cfg a little for the depth-charges, but, you're right, my bomb-dropping skills need some attention...... Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy:
  25. O.K. to have another go, Joe? Here's a 'Stickleback' hunting in the Western Approaches: Again, no edits - just FSX, FSRecorder and some smoke.fx effects..... Cheers - Dai.
