  1. Just a quick shot of my little 152 chugging across the Pennines to Manchester
  2. Hiya John, I have carried on and speeded up FS9 to see where he sends me. The answer is, the opposite direction of where I came, and once i'm on that heading, the controller completely forgets out me. It's rather frustrating after what I consider a long FS flight. I'll pop a question on the RC forums. Cheers Mut & John.
  3. Hiya Mut! I'm flying the Wilco A319, using Radar Contact and the Aerosoft (?) Frankfurt scenery. Just tried a flight from Gatwick to Barajas tonight, and all went fine. I wonder why this only happens at Frankfurt? Cheers!
  4. Hi guys, Why is it when I try to fly to Frankfurt Main, approximately 50 NM out, ATC vectors me in the opposite direction of the airport, effectively turning me back to where I was going, then forgets about me? I don't like it, it gets lonely in them there clouds :great: Thanks!
  5. Cheers Rob, I got my computer back today, and installed FS2004 with all my payware sceneries and aircraft. I flew the Wilco A319 from Heathrow (UK2000) to Charles De Gaulle (SimWings). My framerates are perfect. I have FS2004 on some of the highest settings, and my texture loading at most has a delay of around 3 seconds. I'm loving FS now. I could never run the Airbus before due to the fact that it was so FPS intensive, it was like a slideshow! I got my route from vroute this morning, planned my fuel allowances, set off and tried to remember all I could about the Airbus! The result? Well
  6. Thanks guys, these are really useful! Hello Gareth
  7. Hello chaps, i'm back! Basically, I have restarted FS2004. I wish to use it as a commercial flight simulator centered around Britain using Airbuses. Can anyone recommend any great FREE sceneries for Europe? Thanks!!
  8. http://www.trevord.com/navaids/pol.htm this site has alot of UK navaids
  9. Mut, those clouds are absolutely stunning! were you using FE that you told us about? Infact, I love every add on you have used for these shots they really are superb, you must have a really top-end system! A big round of applause for you I think, well deserved as these are mind blowing shots  Keep snapping Mut! we want more! :mrhappy:
  10. Good luck in secondary school Kieran, i'm sure you will enjoy it! :-)
  11. Thanks reef, didn't know you lived so close!
  12. Thanks John, Kieran and Dave. Kieran & John - Thanks for pointing that out. I always assumed apart from the Wellington that all British heavy bombers were Merlin powered, obviously not! It may have been more accurate to name them as radials. You learn something everyday. Kieran, the model is AlphaSim freeware, they released this model as a gift on their birthday, posted on these forums by Mut.
  13. Blimey you chaps are quick!! Thanks for the kind comments, it means alot! fighterpilot - I only ever usually fly commercial airliners! I rarely fly a Cessna just to remind myself what 'flight' really is. However, I saw a post by mutley of his B-17 and it brought back alot of memories of the film 'Memphis Belle' and I thought "well i'm going to have to take one for a spin!"
  14. Hello all, As a thank you for helping me out I thought i'd share a flight with you in my recently acquired Handley Page Halifax WW2 bomber (named after my local town nonetheless! not those jokers in Canada ) :eyebrow: Anyway, this is the story! Multiflight are a company based at Leeds Bradford (or Yeadon to you oldies) who let people buy lessons in aircraft, rent out aircraft and go for "pleasure flights". (Fictionally now) To increase their revenue Multiflight are hosting a Halifax bomber on their apron which is open to all members of the public between 10:00AM and 14:00PM. They hope t
  15. These are really funny guys, keep 'em coming! Sorry I keep asking questions guys, I miust be getting annoying :sadblinky: I don't mean to be! Mut, where did you get the Fortress from? the B-17 is my favourite wartime aircraft! If you could recommend others too it would be appreciated, via PM if you wish so it doesn't spoil the thread, it's okay if not.
  16. Does anyone have the Harrier from the freeware section? What's it like? I'm not much of a military jet man but I might have a look at it, i'm not expecting no vertical takeoff and hovering features. (I hear some of you saying just download it and find out! however, my computer is a bit short of space and every little helps )
  17. I can see the method in your madness John, i'll definatley printing the ones I need out and using them! Dave - I thought another beauty of it was the sort of 'limitless' possibilities. For instance, if you were to mess up in default FS, the ATC would just leave you and cancel your IFR, but RC sticks with you and tries to help you out. A brilliant feature I think is being able to declare emergency and announcing you're low on fuel in a hold. I did lie though, I got told off by the nice lady in Leeds Bradford departure for not having my transponder set correctly :blush
  18. I'd just like the thank John and Dave for recommending probably one of the best add ons for FS2004 I have bought to date. I've just done a flight from Leeds Bradford to Dublin (short-haul as I was expecting something to go wrong). I imported the real Jet2 route, including the SID out of EGNM, and everything went excellent! ATC vectored me onto the ILS, had a nice smooth touchdown too. My only gripe is that it doesn't show you where to go on the taxiways like the default ATC does.
  19. I was hoping you were going to don the sweatbands vest and shorts Mut  I am in envy of you Phil, still 2 exams to do, atleast that's off your mind!
  20. I have had AISmooth for some time now John, I will make sure I have it running in the background while I fly. (That's now AS2006, FDC Virtual Cockpit, AISmooth AND Radar Contact running under FS, blimey!) Radar Contact has been purchased and i'm just downloading it now. I shall give you all a good run down of how it goes when i've done a flight  Hope i've made a worthwhile purchase!
  21. Thanks very much John. Hopefully this will resolve my issue with FS ATC vectoring me away from the airport due to large amounts of AI.
  22. Sorry Dave, I didn't see your message. RC looks good, but I want to be more confident on STARs to be honest. Could I set RC up to do what FS does and start giving me headings when getting near the airport and telling me to descend and intercept the ILS?
  23. Good luck Phil! thanks for helping me out! (Also good luck with the lady friend, they are very hard work at times :sadblinky:  ) I do hope our Mut will be running alongside offering mental support?
  24. Thanks for all the nice comments guys, hopefully soon I can share a full flight with you all, perhaps to the sunny island of Ibiza? Mut, that's a shame about Ryanair. We flew with them in 2005 from Stansted to Orio Al Serio. Basic payment, no frills, they just get you there (albeit to an airport which is nowhere near where you wanted to be!) I suppose that's what you get for paying that crook O'Leary
