  1. Hear hear, but the point is he's finishing his FSX project of all the UK airports, then moving on, as I understand. Updating to the latest and greatest isn't his grand plan. Chris, the end for that sim was 10 years ago mate!
  2. In terms of pure quality yes, but reading Gary's forums there's a lot of people there who are happy with what he does and it suits their sim and system. If his user and customer base isn't collectively demanding more, he can hardly be blamed for giving them what they want
  3. I've not heard anything from them for over a year. They've not worked on any scenery for longer than that I believe. I came round with my daughter Eillithia again, but she was very tired and grumpy. When we came past you the stand was very busy and you were talking to some people - we did steal a chocolate though Eillithia also had a problem with the mainly older male attendees, as she was unfortunately shoved around and had her view blocked quite a lot. Not one of the people there showed her any real consideration at all really which made it not fun for either of us
  4. I don't think Sim720 are in the flightsim market anymore Joe? Turbulent are the talent and commercial spin off from Sim720 I guess...haven't heard from Barry for ages....
  5. There I am at 1:20, right in the centre wearing green shorts and carrying the clingy pink young one! Proof I was there Chris Sorry I wasn't able to say hi to anyone really...the stand was a bit busy as we whirled round
  6. To be fair, Gary I think recognises that a good number of his customers still use FS9 and FSX so he develops to some degree to the lowest common denominator. It's also fair to say that since the release of v4, he has developed his approach somewhat, including some dynamic elements, but it's nowhere near bleeding edge anymore. Gary uses his own coded bespoke tools for some development tasks, and these were clearly created to cater for FSX development workflows. I get the feeling that Gary is reluctant to invest in new bespoke tool creation or more traditional software d
  7. Compatible, in that they will work. Yet I fear that the workflow Gary follows and the way in which he creates his airports using some bespoke legacy methods means that performance and features suffer?
  8. Yes I keep starting the sim to check the frame rates... Im in the happy position that with all sim options maxed, even AS16 running and in the ngx im still putting out 70+ fps. With TrackIR before I was getting stutters due to the fps being lower than monitor refresh rate, now I've found I have the same stutters because fps is higher than refresh, so i've locked to 60fps. Some add on a/c are manging 100+ fps everything maxed... Beyond my expectations When combined with a decent GPU Kaby Lake is a cery recommendable upgrade!
  9. Excellent Phil, let us know how you are finding performance with the sim when you get it set up?
  10. Nice aircraft, which I will undoubtedly pick up shortly. It seems that Just Flight's internal devs are getting better and better - and I do like their responsiveness to tweaking it with quickly published multiple service packs to address issues that people have raised Thanks Joe
  11. ah cant see your specs as Im on my phone Looked on the pc.. What speed DDR4 did you go for Phil? Are you intending to delid your 7700K? What cooler do you plan to use with it? Cheers K
  12. nice phil, what parts did you go for?
  13. lol not quite, but it does need 1.4v to get to 4.9ghz stable :O I'm not sure whether I'm 100% comfortable with that, but Asus recommend not using more than 1.4v when stress testing, so its 'just' within recommended limits.. I may still delid it later and see if I can get temps down lower towards the 60s, and I may need to invest in a better cooler - or I can just drop to 4.8ghz and live with it. EDIT: In terms of value for money, initial impressions are that average fps for cpu limited addons like PMDG have increased by about 60% over my previous i5-2500K @ 4.7Ghz,
  14. Just got round to installing this today. Lidded, its booting at 5.0Ghz, stable at 4.9, temps low 30's idle, high 70s under stress. Fired up in the NGX its giving me 54fps in the VC in default location, 41fps in VC in UK2000 EGKK.
  15. Each to their own of course this is just my little piece of learning for sanity, if anyone else ever uses it thats great - if not thats great too! I just like finding out how to do cool new stuff And i've promised my eldest dau I'll teach her how to fly.. as I sit here with her sister asleep in my arms I'm working out what I'm going to progress next on the scenery front
  16. Video The beginnings of a uk 60cm photoreal scenery, just a demo area showing a custom watermask. The end product will contain custom autogen as well (not shown in this short video)
  17. Wanting to beat P3D4 out of the gates, Serenity Rose was born last night at 10.19pm, 8lbs 2oz So far living up to her name, very calm and quiet....
  18. They already are Brett! I'm selling this upgrade to myself on the basis that my eldest girl is quite interested in aeroplanes and what better way to allow her to further that And she gets my old kit to practice with before being allowed into the hallowed sanctuary of my simpit!
  19. Decided to go with: 1. Asus Maximus Hero Z270 2. 32Gb DDR4 3200 cas14
  20. Thanks Joe, heard some good things and saw a cracking deal so clicked 'buy'...just wondered if anyone here had any experience with a KL, but if not I'll post my comparisons with my current venerable i5-2500K shortly. Have seen some people have delidded and reduced temps by up to 30 degrees, but I wonder if it's really necessary even if that's a reachable goal? I tend to suspect that while a CPU is running under its thermal restriction limit it will be fine (the old 2500K has been running at 70-odd degrees at 4.7GHz for 6 years now without any apparent issues) and the delid process

    i7-7700K

I am a bad person indeed, having succumbed to the terrible 'new CPU-itis'... What kind of experiences does anyone else have of Kaby Lake please? I'm considering de-lidding it, or just running OC'ed on an all-in-one water cooler. Has anyone else de-lidded a 7700K? Does it really need it? Any opinions as to what memory specs might be a good fit please? Cheers K
  22. All showed up in 3.1.3.113, although the building of data seemed to crash halfway through. I do see that the fsAerodata website states "fsAerodata works now with Aivlasoft EFB and Plan-G Flight Planning as a preview. Expect a more in deep compatibility results on next cycles."
  23. Probably because you cant actually see it? Impossible to post a screenshot of navdata I've been testing it with VoxATC 7.2 beta and when all the airac cycles are aligned it appears to work perfectly so far in P3D.
  24. www.fsaerodata.com Updates default navdata in fsx/p3d from 2006 vintage to latest airac cycle... I believe this is the first navdata addon to fully update navaids, approaches and all airways for every default and addon airport to the same data we use with navigraph etc...
  25. Ian if you can provide the model of the bridge the community could do a mod for the roads for the photoscenery base? I've done many PR mods in my time. Cheers K
