LEG 7: Brindisi Casale, LIBR - Aristotelis, LGKA
Route: GOKEL M603 KAS
Allowed altitude: FL110 to FL270 Inclusive

A little hop outside italian boundaries. The next leg will take us to a small airport in Greece, surrounded by high mountains.
Now that P3Dv2 is out, why not get back to the oldie goldie FS9? :D

If you can hear me after flying the Bronco, just wanted to say I have been enjoying the latest legs being flown.

Gorgeous last few legs. The Malibu and Duke were lovely legs. I have the MalibuTurbo, not the Duke. Glad you are enjoying the Metroliner. You showed it very very nicely.

LEG 10: Pescara, LIBP - Rimini Miramare, LIPR
Route: INKIM Y579 NUTRO L612 ANC
Allowed altitude: FL120 to FL180 Inclusive

I have to stop reading MH reviews! :D
Don't tell wifey, but I couldn't wait to fly the newest addition to my hangar. A brand new, sleek, fast turboprop, well suitable for this tour.

2013-12-20_14-58-36-275BMP_zps1fa4d8bc.j

Weather is awesome, but we expect low visibility in Rimini:

2013-12-20_15-15-22-514BMP_zpseaadc1d7.j

ATC vectors us enroute:

2013-12-20_15-28-21-779BMP_zpsba4ee229.j

After a really short cruise, we are cleared to descend when near Ancona. Some memories, I did the first month of military service here.

2013-12-20_15-56-14-633BMP_zpsdffa4a21.j

ATC vectors us for a visual approach to runway 13. Gear is down and we are potentially ready to put her down, but visibility is really low.

2013-12-20_16-20-17-615BMP_zpse79497cf.j

How do they say? "When in doubt, go around". It's hard to explain why you didn't.

2013-12-20_16-22-3-410BMP_zps5c49c3f9.jp

So we request a safe ILS app for runway 13:

2013-12-20_16-42-22-33BMP_zps902b1e8c.jp

And is nice to be on the runway again:

LEG 12: Padova, LIPU - Portoroz, LJPZ

Route: CHI M167 ROTAR

Allowed altitude: FL100 to FL180 Inclusive

I do love these short legs, where climb, cruise and descent follow one another quickly.

Padova is a small airport, but has some nice procedures.

We will depart from runway 22, so let's check the initial climb procedure and the SID.

After the initial climb procedure we will reach SELIK intersection, the track the 283° radial to CHI VOR.

Radios are set, engine is spooling nicely, we can start our flight.

2013-12-21_17-43-37-563BMP_zps0b69356c.j

And we are cleared for takeoff:

2013-12-21_17-45-7-559BMP_zpsf46cae30.jp

Following the needle to Chioggia VOR:

Cruising at FL120:

2013-12-21_17-54-16-945BMP_zps023f314c.j

We do not have so much time, let's check the approach charts to Portoroz. According to the METAR, we can expect a VOR approach to runway 15.

Time to start our descent to 2.700':

2013-12-21_17-57-30-134BMP_zps3cf80a5c.j

A short procedure, and we are on final:

Another leg out of boundaries, to a small airfield in Slovenia.

At holding point, we will backtrack and take off from runway 33:

Weather is cold, but no rain nor snow today:

As for the landing procedure, even the SID requires a scary ride through high mountains:

LEG 21: Olbia Costa Smeralda, LIEO - Foligno, LIAF

Route: BATOX L5 VALMA L865 GITOD/N0220F145 VFR

Allowed altitude:FL100 to FL180 Inclusive

Notes: file a Y flightplan

A nice leg today, with a flight that will start IFR and will end VFR.

Weather is nice at destination and we should have no surprises. We are only a bit worried by the strong winds.

Engine 2 started:

Taking off against a strong 25 kts headwind:

Climbing through the SID to BATOX:

Cruising at FL180 inbound TAQ VOR, we have a nasty 89 kts crosswind:

Descending to 14.500' VFR flight level, we have Bolsena Lake below. So many holidays spent there!

Winds are calm in Foligno, joining a left traffic pattern:

Turning to final:

This was an important military airfield during WWII, now it's mainly used by gliders.

Forgot to mention that LIAF is not a default FSX airport, so I had to design it myself from scratch. Not an hard task, anyway. I've managed to precisely put the main elements on the airfield, updated to the last AIP charts. With some spare time I'll add more clutter to this nice little airport.

I really enjoyed this one, love the mixed flightplan.

LEG 22: Foligno, LIAF - Napoli Capodichino, LIRN
Route: DCT GITOD/N0250F170 IFR Y106 TIBER L995 AKAMO
Allowed altitude:FL115 to FL175 Inclusive
Notes: FILE A Z FLIGHT PLAN /// AT GITOD ANY ODD LEVEL FROM FL110 TO FL190 INCLUSIVE

A zulu flightplan, first VFR then IFR, to get back home.

Time for another aircraft change. Looks like the issue I have with this aircrat (engine quitting when a tank goes dry) does not happen when using models fitted with auxiliary tanks.

So, it's time to go.

We descend 7.000' following AKAMO 1A STAR, and soon we are established on the long localizer run to Naples, with Mount Vesuvius on our left:

On ground, not one of my best landings so far, I have to get familiar again with this aircraft:

Closing the office. I'll call a taxi to spend some time home with my family. Baba cake anyone?
