Problems with some waypoints in FS2004

Recommended Posts

Pilots,

I have become aware that some of the instructions given do not appear to result in the waypoint being found due to the radials not intersecting.

The route was planned using FSX and you may be experiencing problems due to some of the following:

•   variations in NAVAID locations between FS9 and FSX;
•   possible differences in magnetic variation between FS9 and FSX data; and
•   possible plotting error due to misreading the bearing TO and bearing FROM instructions.

Here are some coordinates for some reported anomalies:

Leg 3, waypoint 18:  N57° 8' 36.26",W5° 46' 51.74

Leg 4, waypoint 01:  N56° 27' 19.98",W5° 36' 26.73

Leg 4, waypoint 02:  N56° 7' 57.00",W6° 38' 03.96"
Leg 5, waypoint 01:  N54° 52' 22.07",W3° 35' 42.10"
Leg 5, waypoint 10:  N55° 25' 30.29",W5° 7' 06.11

Remember, this is for FS2004 only, if you are experiencing a problem please email the rally committee  :thanks:
If we come across any more I will add to the post.

Wayne Knowles (gunk here) mentioned having problems with a Leg 1 waypoint at the club breakfast yesterday morning. I'm pretty sure he's using FSX and he was able to work it out and complete the leg OK, but had a bit of a struggle.

  • 2 weeks later...

???     Leg 5 Waypoint 10: N55* 25' 30.29" W5* 7' 06.11"      ???

I make that a bit south of Arran, but suspect it should be somewhere about the SW end of the Great Glen, possibly N56* 49' 24" W5* 7' 06.11"?

John,

Well spotted, In fact, Flight Leg 5, Waypoint 10 is the waypoint immediately after EGEO and should be in the vicinity of N56 47' 49" W5 0' 30", a rather obvious feature.

Cheers

Andrew
