Captain Coffee 2,030
Been seeing lots of gorgeous Tube shots...and as I said in another reply, I wanted one that I want to fly. I have the JF Airbus 318/9, and don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic looking and flying model...i just don't find it cool looking. Guess I'm not an Airbus guy. I picked up Captain Sim's Boeing 727...their only trimotor, and a gorgeous looking Not Too Heavy that looks freaking Cool to me...and the interior is gorgeous and mostly functional giving me lots to learn. I also bought the 727 freighter expansion...cuz I'm an AirHauler. Last night...I just autostarted, and had a poke around all the panels and made sure generators, fuel switches, lights, etc, etc, etc looked like they were in flying condition, and went for a solo check flight across the Hawaiian chain. No sense in risking anyone else's skin if I can't be arsed to read the manual. Playing with the ramp toys at Honolulu: Ready to take off: Up...seems the switches are in the correct position so far... I might be burning a bit too much fuel...gear going up... Slats, Flaps, and Matt...Going up...at a phenomenal climb rate...perhaps due to burning too much fuel... Throttle back a bit and that black smoke went away...probably not the best break in for brand new motors...but got them lubed up well. Seeing a bit of wing flex here? (edit...doubt it, but not sure. On a later flight I tried to spot it actually flexing...couldn't, but it looks good) ...damn this is a great looking plane. With a very nice VC! Lots to keep me busy in here. Matt Test...How does she handle the Netflix Approach? Coming in too high is not a problem as it transpires, those are Very effective speed brakes/spoilers...speed was kept below 250 during my fast descent from 20k to 4K. Cleaned up and ready for Agility Test...How does she dodge clouds? Gracefully and easily is the answer. Slaloms like an Olympic skier...well...a bit of hyperbole there...but a fine handling bird. On down wind to Hilo...gear down. I found it quite easy to maneuver into line with the runway, the turn carving ability holds up with flaps and gear down, and she slips confidently if necc. VC view of the approach: Full Flaps...That is a favorite sight for me...a plane with big ass barn door flaps....good brakes are Very Good. Greasing a heavy-ish in on the first flight is making me feel like I found my Heavy Heart Throb...and I like that it is a triple chambered heart at that...all nearly on the center line so losing any one or two engines shouldn't cause a crap ton of yawing...I like this plane so far. Taxing to parking...it's looking at you... A couple other liveries on the -100 and -100f models, not many freighter liveries are included...hope to find more on one of the share sites: Cheers, Coff.

Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Lovely pics, Matt, and a graceful-looking bird! I reckon you're going to have a lot of fun in that one. Cheers, bruce a.k.a. brian747
dodgy-alan 1,587
That B727 is a real duezy, I picked it up a while ago. The B727 just looks right from any angle. Great captures there.

Captain Coffee 2,030
Thanks guys...it's a doosy alright. Last night I did an Airhauler trip in it. I took it from Mt. View-KNUQ to KTVL, Lake Tahoe (a common check flight run for me) to deliver 41,000 lbs of Coffee ( ), then a short hop to Carson City-KCXP to pick up some computer games, 55,000 lbs worth ( :D )...perfect jobs for Captain Coffee the Computer Cargohauler. Carson city was a skinny little strip, and a tight turn to final...too tight and I had to slip it in hard, but made it. I was loaded to the gills on the way back and just barely made it off the runway with 55,000 lbs of cargo and less than 500 gallons of fuel. We JUST made it back to KNUQ, and the fuel ran out just as I cleared the taxi ramp...didn't quite make it to my parking spot, a tug pulled me over the finish line :D . Freaking perfect....love love this plane. Thanks for your comments folks Cheers.
hifly 925
Glad you like it Matt, RW pilots loved it too, you might also be tempted with the CS B737-200, another pocket rocket. Last year around Xmas Captain Sim had a sale where IIRC their range was going for 1$ per aircraft. I'm monitoring their site daily and will post an announcement here if they have another sale. @ Matt, full flaps are only to be used in emergencies on the 727.
brett 2,314
Sweet looking aircraft Matt, a good looker and hauls a good amount too. I can see why you fell in love with it. Love the old Pam Am livery the best. Wondered why Cougar Cargo has a picture of Bart from Sesame Street on it.
