Allards airport files & Plan G

Recommended Posts

Create a folder on any drive, in any location; name it "Charts".  Put the diagram files there.  You may create subdirectories below Charts and tidy them up if you want to but it's not necessary.  Plan-G will work either way.

Create an empty text file with Notepad or some other text editor and name it "AllardJD_Readme.txt".  Place that file in the Charts folder.  There's a glitch in Plan-G where it looks for that file, but it doesn't use it for anything.  The file needs to be there but can contain anything or nothing.

In Plan-G, File -> Options -> Locations -> J Allard Charts:  Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to your charts folder.  Find and select the AllardJD_Readme.txt file.

When you go back to the map view, right clicking on any airport for which a chart file exists will show a "Charts" pad in the flyout menu.  If there's no "Charts" pad in the flyout, there's no chart associated with that airport.  If there is a Charts pad on the flyout menu, click that and the airport diagram will appear.  Chart file names must begin with the airport ICAO code.  My files conform to that.

Let me know if you have any problems.
