jankees 917
the pic above was it's first flight, and the paint still contained a number of errors. Here is the latest incarnation:
brett 2,314
The Flying Tiger paint brought back memorys of my military days when the services used the company for their transportation needs. I believe it was a 707, very skinny and small on the inside. On one flight from Iwukuni,Japan to California with stops at Okinowa and Alaska before landing in LAX it stretched out to a very long flight. One stop was an emergengy stop that we diverted to another airbase. I was nervous because of all the patches on the wings and at each stop we had mechanical problems causing long delays. I was happy to get into a newer commercial aircraft for my redeye flight to New York. Unfoturnetly for my folks, they picked up a pretty drunk Marine at 6:30 in the morning. Not sure if I remember correctly but I think from start to finish the trip was around 23 hours. A sweet highlight was getting to see the SR-71 take off from KadinaAFB during one of the many holdovers. I was so close I could see the fluids dripping from her and boy was she a screamer, very loud. Everyone around the area stopped what they were doing to watch it go, like it was a rock star going by.
