Tim_A 996
I'm not going to be able to fly the whole thing myself this year (big stage production in February), so I'll join the team..
mutley 4,487
Welcome Tim
ddavid 149
Thanks for joining us, Tim and Thanks Joe and Kieran for putting up as well. Last year we used the DC-3 for GAAR, the Shorts "Flying Brick" for MEBAR and the DH-104 Dove for GARSA. Please post your prefered aircraft - it doesn't need to be one we've flown before, but it should be freely available and suited to the sort of challenges that young Andrew is likely to throw our way! BTW, I'll most likely be doing GAAR 2012 separately in the DCA DC-3, so I've no axe to grind... Hey - I'm really looking forward to this! Cheers - Dai. P.S. Thanks for the promotion, Boss! rob16584 42
I'm in. I'll probably fly it myself too in the DC-6 (great freeware model available if we use it as a team)
allardjd 1,853
I've been diagramming the airports for GAAR 2012 - I don't think you're going to want to use the DC-6. John
hurricanemk1c 195
P-40? Excellent freeware one from IRIS in both FS9 and FSX

ddavid 149
Currently, we have 5 pilots for Team-Mutley: Joe, Rob, Tim, Kieran and me (Dai). The basic rally roster looks like this: Great Australian Air Rally 2012 - Team-Mutley Roster 1. Cairns (YBCS) to Pormpuraaw (YPMP) 283 nm xxxx 2. Pormpuraaw (YPMP) to Murray Island (YMUI) 361 nm xxxx 3. Murray Island (YMUI) to Port Moresby (AYPY) 189 nm xxxx 4. Port Moresby (AYPY) to Saidor (SDR) 283 nm xxxx 5. Saidor (SDR) to Mendi (AYMN) 177 nm xxxx 6. Mendi (AYMN) to Tabubil (AYTB) 154 nm xxxx 7. Tabubil (AYTB) to Morehead (MHD) 298 nm xxxx 8. Morehead (MHD) to Coconut Island (YCCT) 118 nm xxxx 9. Coconut Island (YCCT) to Lockhart River (YLHR) 165 nm xxxx 10. Lockhart River (YLHR) to Cooktown (YCKN) 193 nm xxxx We haven't assigned pilots to the individual Legs, yet - have you any preferences? I don't mind flying Leg 2 - there's a nice short field at the end of it... Also - and this is important - we haven't decided on an aircraft. Kieran has suggested the P40, which sounds exciting, but maybe you have another choice? Please post your Leg/Aircraft choice(s) - first come etc... Lastly, there are 10 Legs, so we welcome additional pilots to join Team-Mutley. I'm flying the whole Rally in the DC-3, so I need only do 1 Leg. Cheers - Dai.
mutley 4,487
OK, I'll do leg three, preference DC 3, P-40 sounds like too much hard work!
rob16584 42
Leg 8 as 1st choice Leg 5 or 6 as 2nd choice I've not ruled out doing it myself yet
hurricanemk1c 195
Leg 9 would do for me. The IRIS P-40 is nowhere near as hard as the A2A one - very easy to use. But I'll go with the majority - don't really mind what we fly!
ddavid 149
The default DC-3 is probably the most straightforward aircraft in anyone's hangar, so she'll be difficult to beat on that score. As each Team-Mutley member has to fly the Test Flight, we really ought to decide by, say, the 25th (next Wednesday). If no other aircraft has been put up, we'll go with Ms Dizzie... And remember, any else who wants to join the most exclusive club in the flight sim world - more exclusive than even the MS FLIGHT beta - please add your name to the team! Cheers - Dai. rob16584 42
If we do go with Dizzie we can use the Team Mutley repaint from last year
ddavid 149
O.K. - the roster looks like this: Great Australian Air Rally 2012 - Team-Mutley Roster 1. Port Moresby (AYPY) to Saidor (SDR) 283 nm xxxx 5. Saidor (SDR) to Mendi (AYMN) 177 nm Rob (provisional) 6. Mendi (AYMN) to Tabubil (AYTB) 154 nm xxxx 7. Tabubil (AYTB) to Morehead (MHD) 298 nm xxxx 8. Morehead (MHD) to Coconut Island (YCCT) 118 nm Rob 9. Coconut Island (YCCT) to Lockhart River (YLHR) 165 nm Kieran 10. Lockhart River (YLHR) to Cooktown (YCKN) 193 nm xxxx Does that look all right with you guys? And could Tim/Joe spin a coin for the privilege of starting... As for the Team-Mutley livery, wasn't that for the AH/JF Dizzie, Rob. Have we all got this add-on - let us know... Cheers - Dai.
hurricanemk1c 195
No I haven't got it. My birthday's on the 26th of Feb, and Leg 9 is due that day, so I might change to Leg 10 if I do get it for my birthday. It'll be on the list.......

ddavid 149
Hi Team! If you're going to fly the Test Flight, can you aim at a TAS of 140 knots, please? (Give or take 5 knots) This will allow for Borneo highlands and high humidity in the tropics... Oh Yes - And don't forget to post your time here! Thanks. Cheers - Dai.
