Looks like settings for a torpedo...

that was my thinking too, either that or something carrier based...so, K, i'm going to guess firstly at a Bristol Beaufort, if its not then i've another guess waiting in the wings.

Wrong Simon - it's sort of a cross between a bomb sight and a torpedo.

But it is twin engined, and of WW2 British vintage. And it was intended that the aircraft would land on a carrier after the mission, but take off from dry land. When working up for carrier landings, the squadron broke two or three Barracudas

Maybe I'm being very specific on a mark of a certain kind
