The Main Purpose

Recommended Posts

Because the main purpose of flight simulation is to pilot hovercrafts and captain boats!

Enjoy this set! A break from my usual sets of 'aviation' shots. Using CIRP and RTMM scenery for PFJ from Return to Misty Moorings.

Ready for departure!

Along the wharf. Powering on our 'fan' :) (With Accu-Feel 2.0 ALS, this was one heck of an immersive experience - bouncing along the waves, water sounds etc.)

Nice shots Clem. :thum:  I have piloted a hovercraft before and it is a hoot. Haven't done that in awhile but should revisit it with AccuFeel. Great idea thanks. :)

It's a shame the air boat is no longer available for download anymore. :(

I too have that hovercraft, I just wish the modeller had given it the massive spray effects that follow these things everywhere, Having travelled on the cross channel SRN-4s a few times and the Isle of White service dozens more, I've seen first hand the spray they kick up. I often sit on Southsea beach watching the IOW craft come ashore, they are an awesome sight.

The SRN-4s though are simply fantastic, When they powered up those huge RR Proteus Turboprops they made one hell of a noise! Sadly the last two are in the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-Solent. They rarely fly these days though. Indeed I think one of them is now no longer airworthy. :(  I'm just glad I was around when they were in service.

for those of you that have never seen one of these monsters!

feast your ears on that fabulous sound! Awesome!!

If you want to see these things up close !

You're in luck mate! I found this boat at Return to Misty Moorings, and if you scroll to the bottom of the Boating page (http://return.mistymoorings.com/moorings/), you'll find it available for download! Direct link - http://return.mistymoorings.com/moorings/zip/FSX_Air_Boat.zip

Thanks for those links! Enjoyed watching them very much. Too bad they closed down from service. :(

I could add a spray effect into the aircraft.cfg ;)

Excellent :thum:  I looked for an hour for it and could not find it. The site had closed down and it did not come up anywhere else for me.

Thanks a bunch. :thanks:
