  1. there is also an additional global switch you can use to increase stars brightness with any data set being applied,

    stars global brightness can be adjusted in both situation with HDR is ON or OFF! to further refine any database global brightness,

    this will further refine how stars are finally rendered on each specific screen,


    i know i said its not designed for navigation, still... challenge me! ;)

  2. i should probably mention that from the data we have; rendering below MAG7 yields very close to the 9k records currently exists in sim native database,

    that is why we opted to start Stargazer at MAG7 and didn't bother with offering anything below that,

    our MAG7 is not far from Sim native database starting at 16k records vs sim's 9k native records,

    we give you everything from there to the most ridicules MAG that still makes sense rendered :)

  3. i know you don't take these reviews lightly  Joe :(

    you were very enthusiastic from day one with regards to stars data,
    your interest in astronomy is far more advance then most simmers i know,

    that's one of the reasons it wasn't as formal as it should have been due to our numerous discussions on the topic,

    it is still your point of view i have no issues with that,

    i just feel a miss, we should have match expectation earlier,

    i was sure you would perceive Stargazer as an ambiance addon with added real values in it; rather than a straight up navigation aid addon,

    yes the data is there; but its not designed for navigation; the emphasis is to fill the night sky with sufficient data coverage that actually fills the night sky with stars,

    at MAG12 we bring in a quarter of a million real star records, vs the 9k default!

  4. we haven't rendered multicolored stars, its a single white colored with difference in brightness, size, and distance,

    if you noticed colored green blue or red dotted stars that means you had HDR turned to off!

    which explains why you saw colored stars as P3D cannot render these shades with HDR off,


    to get a less exaggerated result for the purpose of navigating by stars;
    you could have used Mag 7 without HDR which would bring out a more familiar patterns you were looking for :) 


    this addon is not meant to use for star navigation and never claimed to be!

    yes again in theory it is possible to do so; how practical is it; questionable! which iv'e stated!!! 

    it is suppose to only complete the night ambiance and give you a more realistic and fuller sky's at night,

    realistic not in the scientific level! but more inline to what one would see and perceive with our eyes,

    granted all positioning and all stars data used 1:1 real and up to date; but this is not designed for navigating by!

    the review completely misses the premise of  Stargazer and focuses on it as being a navigation aid when its not meant to be one! :(

    but we are not in astronomical observatory sim :stars:

    we have to make due with what we have in flight sim, 


    you can set HDR to off and you barely see a handful of stars in default,

    if you turned off HDR with Stargazer you will get a more accurate representation with full Mag 12 depth,

    as you go up in altitude more faint stars come into view in a more real life manner up to mag 12 depth,

  6. Stargazer is a separate product Matt!

    we went from none to having many options now; to each his own with regard to visual preferences!

    its there for one to choose from; we didn't force one or the other magnitudes as static,

    in our video we are not trying to showcase a scientific sky replica of the for astrophysicist study, rather showcase the full range of  Stargazer offering,

    we provided all the data between where your eye can "technically" see from ground level,
    to a thousand feet above ground in a higher layer of the atmosphere where most simmer lives up there visuals do differ from ground level,

    we also showcase under clear sky,


    Note: this is about Black Marble Next Generation which is presented as a whole in the video with Stargazer as garnish!





  7. the uninstall is not an arbitrary delete all files in P3D folders,

    its a specific list of files; therefore third party files will remain in place,

    your personal folders with your saved flights and data will remain in place,


    your personal preference settings in sim will also remain as you user folder content doesn't get deleted,

    your xml and cfg's there should all still be there and sim will be reading those to load again,

    unless you physically remove delete these folders after you uninstall their content should all still be in place,

    if you are still feel unease here are all locations you can make a copy of the existing folders with their content,

    with the exclusion of shaders cache folder (third on the list)

  8. Hi Wayne :)
    you dont remove third party addons,

    with the exception of maybe few native addons you can leave everything in place,

    remove sim installation and reinstall it again; when your done your 3rd party should sill be in place unharmed,


    orbx scenery will work just fine after you updated,

    run ftx central when you're done; give it a sec it will rearrange everything back if needed,

    if you run active sky they have a compatibility update for 4.3, other than that nothing major is pending atm,

  9. unless you really have no choice and have to do "upgrade"; i always prefer a full clean install!

    i dont even bother with updating when the whole thing takes 10-15 min,

    anything needing updating will still need it if you upgrade or run a full clean install,

    with a clean install you're chances of carefree platform are much higher;

    backup your cfg's ;even thought its not needed; your current will remain in place and in tact,

    and go for a nice clean install,

  10. for general education... (i just hope i'm not violating my NDA :unsure: )

    every major developer is active in P3D beta testing,

    you'd be kidding yourself thinking these are the old days!


    it is extremely grueling beta testing builds sometime 2-3 times a week,

    that's right every week since LM released 4.2 every day every dev been testing and sending feedback directly to the team,

    their response is beyond impeccable as well as professional,


    they do at the least weekly beta builds; if you don't test you're customers could suffer as a result; no one wants that! ;) 

    every respectable developer out there takes the time to test and test again to assure the best outcome for their customers,

    if an update is needed its likely waiting on the dev's site,


    we been working our buts off for months now... :twocents:

  11. nice vivid colors, you cold have added area.kml to FSEarthTiles it would have water done with ease for you :) 

    now bring in coastlines, auto detect trees, and place accurate buildings and objects,


    you have all the tools available for free to help you accomplish what you need there,
