  2. Just published is Andrew Godden's second Orbx Australian scenery title this month. Take a look at Bathurst, more than just an airport there's a raceway too, read on to glean Andrews opinion.
  3. FTX EU IRL has taken a team of developers over five months to produce. It is the Fifth region in our European series as we continue to recreate magnificent places to fly.Ireland is an island to the north-west of continental Europe and is the third-largest island in Europe. To its east is the island of Great Britain, from which it is separated by the Irish Sea. FTX EU IRL includes a range of custom-built landscapes including farmland, plains and rolling hills to recreate the luscious green terrain that Ireland is known for. Assortments of urban landscapes are included, exemplifying the variati
  4. Just published is Andrew Godden's review of Orbx's FTX: AU Canberra, Cityscape Canberra This is Australia's home of government and a beautiful city at that. Andrew has lived there so is well qualified to comment! Read on...
  5. Australia's oldest European inland settlement, Bathurst is located on the banks of the Macquarie River in the Central Tablelands Region of New South Wales. it is often referred to as the 'Gold country' as it was the site of the first gold discovery and where the first gold rush occurred in Australia, it is also the home of the legendary Mount Panorama race track, As a local to the area veteran Orbx developer Tim Harris has faithfully recreated the airport, racetrack and the city of Bathurst, featuring a vast area of exquisite 15cm and 60cm photoreal, extensive autogen annotation using the late

  7. Earlier this year, I installed Windows 7 on a new SSD and subsequently re-installed FSX Acceleration, so my sim is quite uncluttered, for once! Fire up times are impressive and with default scenery, FPS is very good. But... About a month or so ago, I bit the bullet and purchased OrbX PNW. It's as good as its reputation and I have been enjoying the Seattle area with both fixed and rotary wing craft. I've written a couple of missions for PNW and even modified the default "Whiteout" mission so that it works with PNW. Just a week ago, I installed Nemeth Designs' new Mi-24 Hind, for reviewing.
  8. To explore the new scenery from Orbx I've decided to go on a tour of Wales to see what it has to offer. The first leg was from Cardiff to Swansea.... The Beaver was waiting at Cardiff and will be perfect for this leg Tower has given me clearance to depart, with a left turn after take-off out over the water Turning out towards the bay Flying back over the airport, BA Maintenance Hangar below The first waypoint is the Millennium Stadium After which I make a left turn towards the Taff Ely Wind Farm After the wind farm it's a short leg to Junction 36 of the
  9. Queenstown Airport is one of Australasia’s fastest growing airports and is ranked as the fourth busiest of New Zealand’s airports. Located at Frankton in New Zealand’s South Island, it serves the resort town of Queenstown and handles around one million passengers a year. Situated in a valley on the shore of Lake Wakatipu and shadowed by the mighty Remarkable ranges, it is an extremely challenging and exciting airport for both commercial and general aviation operations. A unique figure eight approach and departure procedure will challenge you as you skirt the mountains surrounding the airport.
  10. Go explore Idaho. Bonners Ferry is located in the northern-most panhandle area of Idaho on a prehistoric lake bed known today as the Kootenai Valley. In 1864, gold discoveries in Canada inspired Walla Walla businessman Edwin L. Bonner to establish a ferry where the Wildhorse Trail crossed the broad Kootenai River. The ferry served as a major crossing point until it was finally replaced with a bridge in 1932, the location retained the name of the original founder and later became officially the town of Bonners Ferry. 65S, Bonners Ferry airport is situated three miles northeast of the city on a
  11. If any of you have the OrbX PNW scenery installed and would like to test a mission for me, I'd be most grateful. When OrbX released their PNW scenery, the default FSX Whiteout Mission became even more of a challenge due to terrain (mesh) changes and certain modifications made to the Cougar (WN10) airstrip scenery, resulting in an incompatibilty between the mission triggers and the airstrip location. One work-around was to Pause and Save the Mission just prior to WN10, exit from FSX and reset to default scenery (using FTX Central). Fire up FSX, with default scenery, reload the Save
  12. This is my first FSX mission for the OrbX Pacific North West (PNW) scenery add-on. It's a Pilot for Hire Helicopter Mission, in which you take some VIP sightseers on a short helicopter tour of the Cascade Locks area, down the Columbia River to the Bonneville Dam. During the tour, an emergency crops up and you are asked to help out. The mission uses the default Bell 206B, but you can change to an alternative rotor-craft by ticking the "Enable changes in selected Mission" box should you wish.. If you have any problems or queries, please let me know - screen shots would be good! Thank

  15. Hello, I have been thinking of getting a texture add-on for fsx. I already have rex essentials+od, and enb series installed but I wanted something to improve the look of the dull scenery in fsx. Some people say GEX is better and others say ORBX is. More opinions would be much appreciated. Which is better for the money? Which one looks better? Which is more realistic? Also, I don't really want to buy both because I am not ready to spend that much. Thanks

  18. Welcome to Paradise! One of Australia's premier tourism destinations, Broome is a thriving town located in the Kimberley region of north-west Australia. A tropical oasis straddling the red desert sands and crystal blue waters of the world-famous Cable Beach, Broome is a melting pot of culture and history, richly sewn through its lucrative pearling industry and exploits during WWII. Broome Airport is the major regional hub for the Kimberley and north-east Pilbara regions - alongside a busy RPT terminal (served by Qantas, Virgin Australia, Skywest, Air North and Skippers Aviation), expect to se
  19. Hi everyone, Long time lurker- first time poster here. I’m a ‘real world’ commercial pilot from NZ, and have been a frequent visitor to this website every time I search a FSX addon review! Recently, I’ve really been enjoying the FTX NZNI package from Orbx and thought I’d start up a topic here detailing a collection of scenic VFR flight plans that I’ve created to show off the part of the world that I’ve spent over 600 'non simulated' hours exploring and enjoying. I've also posted a copy of this thread over on their official support forums, but thought it wouldn't hurt to share my posts here too
  20. Just published is Kevin Firth's review of Orbx - FTX -EGHR Chichester / Goodwood There have been many discussions about using these new highly detailed Orbx airfields with the scenery they were designed for, FTX England scenery and integration with Generation X photo scenery. Kevin has taken the view from both sides. First and most importantly from the perspective of a FTX England scenery user, then as a user of Generation X photoscenery. We have scored this product twice so you can decide for yourself. Read on.

  22. Elstree Aerodrome is Russ White's second UK airport. Combining with 1cm, 2cm and 3cm resolution ground poly areas and with the on-location photography of John Lovell, you will be completely immersed in the scenery here. The aerodrome is located in Elstree, which is situated 2.6nautical miles east of Watford, Hertfordshire, England. EGTR started out in the 1930s as a small landing strip and came into its own during World War II when it was used for the overhaul and repair of military aircraft. After 1945 Halifax freighters operated from Elstree andseveral charter companies took up residence. Si
  23. EGHP Popham, located near Basingstoke, Hampshire and is developed for FTX England. Popham is the home of the Spitfire Flying Club which has over 400 members. The Club name is retained in memory of Charles Church who owned several Spitfires and whose family still own the airfield. There are 100+ aircraft based here, ranging from Microlights to ex-Russian fighter trainers. We have tried to capture both the history and natural beauty of the airport and surrounding area. Almost every single object seen in the real airport has been accurately modeled and positioned, allowing you to immerse yourself
