  1. What a night I think, I'm going to lose my drivers license and all just because of a stupid police officer... The conversation went like this, when I got pulled over in my truck: Officer: "License and registration, please, I think you are drunk!" Me: "I assure you, I did not drink anything." Officer: "Ok, let's do a little test! Imagine driving in the dark on a highway at night, when you see two lights in the distance. What is this?" Me: "A car." Officer:"Of course! But which one? A Mercedes, an Audi or a Ford?" Me:"I have no idea!" Offi

  2. And now for something completely different! Having had the luxury of retiring at the age 47, it's been over 11 years now. Flight simming, other PC based gaming passions, researching, and writing have filled the hours nicely in that time and continue to do the same. So, why do I need to revisit a hobby I last engaged in back in the 1970's - you may well ask! Well, I blame my children, both of them. About seven years ago, my daughter presented me with an Airfix 1:48 scale plastic model kit as a present for my birthday. Of course, she wasn't sure if I would even like it, but unbeknown t

  4. Living in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario allows me to fly over Niagara Falls fairly often. I put this video together to illustrate the flight rules and procedures that must be followed with a few scenic points of interest. Video was captured with a GoPro mounted to the underside of the right wing.

  5. So this morning the Mutley Crew convened to try out multiplayer as we fly together every weekend and wanted to set the sim up in advance. The results were very positive, we created a private group and set real world traffic and ai off so we wouldn't be interrupted. Everything else, weather, time etc was real world. After an initial learning phase of around 30 minutes, to establish the best settings for the group on a shake down flight from London City to Heathrow, we decided on a calmer flight (for those of you in the UK today will know why!) in southern Spain., the experience was incre

  8. What have I done...or got myself into? Decisions, decisions, and even more decisions!!! I blame myself and my OCD, though I cannot be sure if it is the real version or just the Hollywood version...which up until a few years ago, I never knew there was a difference. OK, so the 1:48 scale Airfix kit I received from my daughter somewhat set the baseline for my decisions on scale. My first self imposed rule, therefore, was that I decided 1:48 scale was a good scale for fighters and the old venerable 1:72 scale would be good for bombers or larger aircraft, generally. My logic was that this w

  12. For anyone who may be having connectivity problems with the new sim, it could be down to your router not having the correct ports open. You may have been through this before with FS2004, FSX, or P3D. We covered this topic when the old FSX Gamespy multiplayer service was terminated and we all had to connect directly. Jess wrote a guide at the time here .. Here's a brief summary. Before you can forward a port you need to know the following things: Your router's IP address. Your FS machine's IP address. The TCP and UDP ports that need to be forwarded. IP address

  13. Is this guy serious!!! The issues with his review: claims to review it thoroughly yet misses the obvious fault with the camera view settings...a minor camera.cfg error, by the way; fails to acknowledge the "cold and dark" engine start is also a problem with some default aircraft, therefore, not necessarily Carenado's or the model's fault; ignores the simple fact that flight simmers may want a Cessna 182T Skylane, so stating it has nothing over the default Cessnas is nonsensical and totally subjective; the control sensitivity is also evident in other default aircra

  14. I hate change notes that are written by a marketing department. "Significant FPS drop when using Simconnect should no longer affect the experience" Does that mean the bug is fixed or not? What does "affect the experience" mean? is that the same bs as "reduces the appearance of wrinkles"? Closing your eyes reduces the appearance of falling off a roof...... Doesn't stop you hitting the ground though!

  16. I will start by saying that I am not one who normally jumps into a new product on Release Day 1.....but after 14 years (ignoring the aborted MS Flight product), the anticipated hype of a next generation Microsoft flight sim, the very positive reviews from reputable flight sim community contributors, and outright peer group pressure, I didn't have much choice. I have been a Prepar3D convert in that time but for the purposes of this post let's just consider that an extension of MS FSX. Not having any experience with Xbox or other MS online product purchasing, the purchasing process was no o

  23. Fair point but the same could be said for pretty much every airport add-on that costs twice as much. I fully expect MS will add more default ships in time just like they will improve airports over time too.

  25. I have created a search table for the default standard keyboard, joystick, and X-Box type controller mappings for MSFS. I have also included the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and Bravo Quadrant too as they appear to be the most popular yoke and quadrant combination for MSFS. https://mutleyshangar.com/controls.html It should be simple to use, as you type in the search words the table should auto filter to entries which contain the combination of words, for example, "Bravo throt" will return lines which contain that phrase. If you were to just enter "throt" then all controllers will b

  29. I have completed a few flights with Volanta using X-Plan 11.5 now and this is what I have found: There is a plugin that runs in the background and reports you flight to Volanta which records times, altitude, and position to record a flight and then provides that data for you from their server on an aircraft basis. So to start with you have to register an aircraft with, in X-Plane, ICAO code and registration number. This means you can effectively log each skin for each aircraft you have. To fly, you first pick a registered aircraft and then record your flight as you go. You can loa

Hi, I only have 2017 found at this link https://app.box.com/s/wmokmewkfjwyoaaviniu5jr4h3b97sr9 and it only includes the flight situation files, one through five that get dumped into the C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files. Missing is all the other stuff you need to make a flight plan so it won't do you much good unless you can figure it out using the archive threads. I always wished they made all the MEBAR flight files available in the MEBAR section of the home page so they could all be revisited instead of just the threads talking about them. Hopefully others can h
