I heard on the radio while driving home from work this evening that an airliner was diverted from Manchester to Stanstead due to some kind of passenger trouble and was escorted there by two RAF fighters.

The BA aircraft, an A319 appears to have lost part of it's port engine cowling on take off and part of the starboard one whilst airborne, it looks like the stbd engine then ingested something that it disagreed with and it then caught fire. The aircraft landed safely with only 3 passengers reporting minor injuries,  An investigation has begun into a possible maintainence problem.

The incident at Stansted was a PIA B773 en route to Manchester .Two guys tried to get into the cockpit.  2 RAF Typhoons from Coningsby intercepted it and escorted it into Stansted where the 2 clowns were arrested.
