Test Flight

Flying any single or twin prop aircraft (use the "Rules" link to view eligible aircraft), the Test Flight is flown between the Torp (TOR) VOR and the Gardermoen (GRM) VOR in Norway on a heading of 22 degrees.

Set up your chosen aircraft at Torp (ENTO) RWY 36 in clear weather conditions.  A flight situation file with a default aircraft set up at ENTO on RWY 36 in clear weather conditions is provided for your convenience.

Set the Nav 1 radio to the TOR VOR frequency of 113.85 and set the OBS to 022. Take-off, climb and establish yourself at 5,000'.

Turn left and intersect the TOR VOR 022 inbound radial and establish yourself on an economy cruise speed for your chosen aircraft. Track the 022 inbound radial to overfly the TOR VOR. As you overfly the TOR VOR and the VOR instrument needle "swings", note the time on the timer (this is the "start" time).

Now set the NAV 1 radio to the GRM VOR frequency of 115.95 and set the OBS to 022. Continue to track the 022 inbound radial to the GRM VOR and as you overfly the GRM VOR and the VOR instrument needle "swings", note the time on the timer again (this is the "finish" time).

Subtract the "start" time from the "finish" time to calculate your Test Flight time which then must be submitted with your Pilot Registration. Remember to ensure your Test Flight time is submitted in decimal seconds.
