  1. BKS Air Transport was formed in 1951 at Southend Airport, by James Barnby, Thomas Keegan and Cyril Stevens. Initially using DC3s on domestic routes they soon expanded to other European destinations. The DC3s were joined with Vickers Vikings and Airspeed Ambassadors, Other aircraft were added as the airline grew including a Bristol 170 Freighter, Vickers Viscounts, HS748s and Bristol Britannias. In 1969 the first of their Trident fleet was added and they expanded to cover many Mediteranean destinations as well as ever more domestic services.
