remingtonbox 18
This may be a real world aviation question, but does everyone turn on the avionics before engine start? I have always learned opposite.
adrians69 159
I always power up avionics first to get radio power, and contact ATIS before engine start. As long as you start engines soon after, you should not lose much battery power.
jaydor 345
Remember the words "Minimum Noise". You need to set the radio, gps and other pre-flight checks, so start up should be one of the last things of many.. It's usually written down in the pre flight checks and engine start pro's
remingtonbox 18
Interesting... is that a European thing? Our checklists have avionics master AFTER engine start, it saves the avionics if there is a energy spike, battery failure etc.
adrians69 159
It's definitely what you're taught in UK flight schools, although I don't know about the rest of Europe.
