and while we're on the subject of military C-47's, here's a funny one:

why funny? Well, just below the flag on the tail, there's a civil registration, PH-TBV. Apparently, the Dutch Air Force, before they received their own C-47's in 1950, borrowed one from the KLM in 1949, gave it a military paint, but kept the registration. I assume it later went back to the KLM, because in 1952, a former Belgian Air Force C-47 (ex-OT-CWC) joined the Dutch Air Force and in turn became X-2.
Anyway, one of the few bare metal C-47's with the Dutch Air Force as far as I know.
