Grumman OV-1B Mohawk. Vietnam 1968. 1/72 scale. Not sure quite how old this kit is but that price tag really does say 8"6d ! 8 shillings and sixpence. about 42.5p in todays money! I paid somewhat more for it a few months ago. It's now quite a rare beast. The kit is a rebox of a Hasegawa kit that was around and the same time. She's an old lady now but still came up a treat. I've given her a somewhat scruffy appearance as would have been the norm given the conditions out in Vietnam.

Together with the OV-10 Bronco, the OV-1 is one of very few Turboprop Combat Aircraft.

I can never decide which of these I like better.  They are both pretty novel and unique.

Another candidate for turboprop combat aircraft is the AC-130 gunship, though admittedly it is a spin-off of a non-combat type.  OV-1 and OV-10 were designed and purpose-built for the role.

Then there's the Tu-95 Bear!!!  Now THAT is a turboprop.  Something like 16,000 shp per engine.
