hurricanemk1c 195
Hi Andrew! I'm guessing at this as I don't have freeware aircraft like the POSKY and IFDG in FSX so can't tell why the textures aren't showing. A screenshot would help! Step 1 : Download IFDG Model Step 2 : Unzip the file Step 3 : Take the Aircraft into FSX's SmObjects - Airplanes Step 4 : Anything else (e.g. Gauges, Effects) go inot the approiate folder in FSX! Hope you have fun! Kieran
ddavid 149
Hi Andrew Just to add to Kieran's helpful comments: Porting FS2004 models to FSX is often problematic, never simple but sometimes very rewarding. I generally do the following: 1. Go to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanes and create a NEW file; 2. Give it a short but understandable name - i.e. Short Sunderland; 3. Open the file and copy the new model's files into it; 4. Open each file component of the new file in turn - ie Model, Texture, Panel, Sound, Aircraft.cfg - and see if it looks O.K. - Yes, I know this needs a bit of experience, but you can often spot a problem by doing this. 5. If the previous steps are all right, then fire up FSX and inspect the look of your new model. You'll do this in Free Flight at the Select Aircraft stage. Now, sometimes the model won't appear in the list - that means that your new model's files are incompatible with FSX - this can be due to a nuber of issues - sometimes you can sort them out, often not. 6. Sometimes, the new model is in the list, but when you 'display' it, there's nothing there. This generally means that the new aircraft's model won't work with FSX. Maybe it's FS2002 and not FS2004? 7. If the model displays, you can often find that the FS2004 guages are incompatible with FSX and when you're in the sim, the panel has empty holes where guages should be. You can get round this by editing the Panel.cfg file to use FSX compatible guages - but it's a labour of love! I did this for Tim Conrad's SA Bulldog - it was worth it.... 8. Other things can go wrong - like smoke effects being in the wrong place - you'll need to inspect the aircraft.cfg to sort this as FSX uses a slightly different co-ordinate system ti FS2004 - sometimes!! Apart from that, it's not too difficult (You are joking! Ed) Lots of luck.... :dance2: Cheers - Dai.
