Run as administrator

Not being particularly adept computer wise, I am having problems with my latest Aircraft download. The things wrong with it, are generally answered by "have you run the installation as an administrator"

Could one of you clever people run a quick "show how "  For what it's worth, my User Account setting has my name as Administrator

Am running Windows 7 64 Bit, and P3Dv4

Just right click the .EXE and select "Run as Administrator"...it's near the top of the right click menu list.

Just tried a right click on a zip file exe. and there is no "run as administrator" option showing.

Apart from "Open" there are another 10 options but no run as administrator. in the menu list.

Mmm  very odd.  OK, try this....

 

Right click the .exe file

 

select Properties

 

open the Compatability Tab

 

near the bottom you should see a section labeled "Privilege Level".....please say yes 

 

now put a tick in the box, where it says "Run this program as an Administrator"

 

Click OK

 

You now will just need to double click the exe file as normal, to execute as you would ordinarily.

 

Still not sure why you do not have the "Run as Admin" option listed in the right click menu list.  Does your Windows OS run as it should, or are you having general problems with using your PC ?   If that is the case then you may need to reinstall windows.  As the missing option is an integral part of the OS in W7.

You do need to unpack the .ZIP file first.  You can't run the .EXE from within the zipped folder.  Create a folder on your Desktop and place the zip file within.  Now double click the zip file and unpack it.  It will create a new folder next to its self, which will contain all the content of the zip file.

 

The .exe file you need to run as admin  will be found within that folder.

Thanks for that, I gave it a try on an old zip file, and it worked very well, actually got "Run as Administrator" for the first time. Problem solved.
