allardjd 1,853
Laser incidents worry aviation officials http://apnews.myway.com/article/20101209/D9K08TKG0.html What are these morons thinking... John
ddavid 149
Give 'em a new toy, John, and they're going to play with it, I'm afraid. But, as these lasers have a pre-determined frequency, can't the cockpit glass be designed to minimise their effect? Just a thought... Cheers - Dai.
allardjd 1,853
I don't know. Do you think they all operate on the same frequency? I know the really powerful ones come in several different colors - green is the most common, but not the only one. Is the color the result of different frequencies, or some kind of filtering? Irresponsible twits, though. Sending a few more to prison might have a deterrent effect. I suppose launching a cylindrical object with a rocket motor and a seeker-head would be overkill. Tim_A 997
People need to realise that aiming one of these devices is no different to or less dangerous than pointing a gun at somebody. And it should have the same penalty, IMHO.
