allardjd 1,853
NTSB Wants 747-8 Engines Inspected NTSB is asking the FAA to "... 'act immediately' to order the inspection of 47 new General Electric GEnx-2B engines in service on Boeing 747-8 aircraft..." Several engines have either experienced failures in tests or have had cracked engine components found in inspections. There was a failure in Shanghai on takeoff roll and an engine was destroyed by a failure in it's first ground run - the latter was a 787 but the engines are very similar. All the 787 engines have been looked at but some operating 747-8's have not. The engines are General Electric. http://www.avweb.com...ull.html#207351
