I'm back on the job at half-speed after another hectic day. We have two new diagrams for you today.

-----

Quickmarch is responsible for CAZ5 at Cache Creek in British Columbia. There's not much to say about this one - the Wiki entry really only gives the airport name and a link to an article on the town. It's a single asphalt runway about 3,300 X 75 feet with a small taxiway stub and ramp near the north end. It has a Multicomm frequency listed in FS but is not lighted and has no MS fuel pump and no approaches. There's an NDB about 5 miles away, not quite on the extended centerline of Runway 15. It's at a slightly lofty elevation of 2,034 feet and has a strong magnetic variation of 21 degrees west.

-----

TQPF was mine. It is Wallblake, in the town of The Valley on the island of Anguilla, in the Caribbean. This one was done by request but when checking it I found it and checked it off in two of my current working lists, including the list of national capitals. In the Wiki article, there's this...

"Wallblake Airport is also a featured airport in one of the Flight Simulator X game demos."

The FSX airport name is now defunct in the real world, the airport having been renamed to Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport in 2010.

In FSX it has one runway nearly 5,500' X 100'. It does have a tower and lights. There's a small mid-field ramp set off on very short taxiway stubs and a few buildings but no fuel pump. The nearby navaids consist of an NDB a couple of miles off one end and a VOR/DME about ten miles away, more or less abeam the field. There is a single published approach, NDB to Runway 10.

I managed two today, both on a recent request list, both in the islands.

-----

First up is TKPK, Bradshaw Intl. That's on Saint Kitts Island in the island nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Though this plate was done on a request, it was on my national capitals list too so I was able to check it off that one.

This is a low-end international airport, with a runway only 7,600' long but it is 148' wide. There is a tower and lights but no ILS. The two published approaches are both based on an NDB - one of them is a Circle-to-Land approach. There is a commercial ramp on one side at mid-field and what appears to be a small GA ramp on the opposite side, both are set off on taxiway stubs so they are two or three runway widths off the runway. There is a custom terminal building among the generic buildings here, but it's layout is pretty simple and it could just as well have been built up of rectangular generics.

There's a DME on the field and an NDB just a short distance away, out on the approach path for runway 07, but no VOR within 20 NM.

-----

The other airport today is TNCE, F.D. Roosevelt airport. This one is on the island of St. Eustatius, in the Netherlands Antilles. It's just a strip in FSX, and if Wiki can be believed, it's not too much more in the real world...

"The airport has a small area for small aircraft. It has almost no terminal at all with no jetways or services."

FSX lists only an FSS frequency, not even a UNICOM. There is one published approach, an NDB to Runway 06. There is no MS fuel pump.

The runway is paved and is almost 3,800' X 100', so is reasonably generous for GA types. I don't reckon they'll see many 737s. Like the one above there are an NDB and a DME within 20 NM (the NDB is less than a mile away) but there's no VOR anywhere near.

Today I was able to hit my stride with a normal day of production, mainly because it was raining most of the day and I couldn't work on my primary project. Sometimes things just work out.

By way of a heads up, I'll be out of the loop for eight days at least, beginning on Saturday, October 6th. I expect to resume production on Sunday, October 14th, but it might be a day later.

-----

SABA is Juancho Yrausquin airport, on the island of Saba in the Netherlands Antilles. In any list of difficult approaches or challenging airports, this one usually makes the cut, primarily because of the very short runway. In the real world the airport is officially closed but small STOL commuters (Twotters and Islanders, mainly) are able to operate here under official waivers from the local authorities. The airport has a mountain on one side and sheer cliffs dropping into the ocean on the other three.

I notice a big discrepancy between FSX and the Wiki article in terms of field elevation - FSX has it at 15 feet and Wiki says it's 60. Looking in Google Earth, scanning down the runway gives heights from 60 to almost 130 feet, so it seems FSX has this wrong and the runway is anything but flat. Since that's what's in FSX, that's what will show on the airport diagram, however.

Another obvious discrepancy is that in FSX the small ramp butts up to the runway. Google Earth shows a couple of taxiways connecting to a ramp that's further off the runway.

In any case, if you're looking for a place to get your adrenaline flowing, this one ought to do it. The single runway is marked closed in FSX. It is listed as 1300 X 60 feet. In the real world shots there are displaced thresholds and turnaround pads, but those are not in FSX. There are no published navaids, no radio frequencies listed and the field has no lighting. There's an NDB listed, about 17 miles to the SE, on another island.

-----

CYYD Smithers is in the city of that name in British Columbia. It's a fair ways north and is in the hill country. A topographical map shows it lying in and aligned with a pretty deep valley. The navaids seem to reflect that it's an unforgiving place to get into with three NDBs strung out in a line for about 12 miles, leading up the valley to the field.

The runway is about 5,000 X 150 feet. Wiki claims that it's been extended to over 7,500', completed in 2008, but FSX is blissfully unaware of this. Though it's not towered, Canada operates a Flight Service Station there and a couple of their frequencies, and one for Center, are listed.

A decent sized ramp is connected by a pair of taxiways, one mid-field, on at the end. Three non-precision approaches are available, including a C-t-L NDB A. There are no VORs within 20 NM but the NDBs seem to be laid out with this airport in mind and are probably enough to keep folks out of the rocks if they're sharp.

-----

Today's update is EGPU, Tiree in Tiree, Scotland. It's on an island that's part of the Inner Hebrides. According to my sources, this was originally RAF Station Tiree, which came into service in 1942. It became a civil field in 1947. The original diagram which this one replaces was from FS9 data and this one updates it to FSX. Judging from the image there's not much difference. About the only thing there in either version of the sim are the three runways, one much larger than the other two, which lie in a rough triangle with and open vertex at one corner.

The long runway is around 4,800' X 98', with displaced thresholds at both ends. There is a VOR/DME on the field. The only COM frequency listed is for FSS. There's no fuel pump, no buildings at all and there are no published approaches.

I tried hard to get three done today but the second one out of the hat was KOKC in Oklahoma City and that one is a major airport. It turned out to be a handful and by the time I had finished that one I had run out of day.

This is very likely my last batch of airport diagrams until October 14th, though I may manage one or two more by Saturday - unlikely, but possible.

Quickmarch is still gone walkabout in Oz, I believe, but expect him to be back in production in a day or two. He'll stockpile what he does between now and the 14th and I'll post his backlog when I return.

-----

Off the national capitals list today I got FTTJ, Hassan Djamous airport, which serves the city of N'djamena, the capital of Chad. Wiki says this is a combined use field with both civil and military operations co-existing there. It sounds as if the French Air Force is the major player here with Mirage F-1s and Puma choppers, but there is also a small Chad Air Force presence. Google Earth shows it looking more or less like FSX except a greatly expanded military area on the west corner. Looking around the fringes I see at least nine hulks of various kinds out in the nearby pucker-brush, including two that may be DC-3s and at least four 4-engine transports of some sort.

FSX shows a narrow grass strip lying hard against the main runway and I guess it's there in GE, kinda', sorta', but if it were left to me, I'd have called it dirt. I don't see any evidence of a single blade of grass inside the airport fence - it's mostly a brown place. The military side even lacks the obligatory golf course - I thought those French guys were supposed to be so civilized.

FSX gives us two parallel runways, one concrete, 9,200' X 148' and the other grass/dirt listed at 5,300' X 80'. There's a commercial terminal to the SE side of the runways, with three connecting taxiways along it's length but no parallel taxiway. The military digs are in the west corner, way off the runway on a single taxiway stub. There is a fair assortment of buildings, all garden variety FS generic types. Runway 05 has a Cat. II ILS and there are a half-dozen other assorted approaches listed.

The field is towered but the two tower frequencies are the only ones listed. There's a MS fuel pump on the commercial ramp and there's a VOR/DME on the field. An NDB lies about two miles out on the approach path to the end opposite the ILS.

-----

KOKC, Will Rogers World is in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Oklahoma City is the Capital of Oklahoma and this airport, of course, came from the US state capitals list today. It's been a while since I've had a major to do and this one took some serious time. It has five runways, so that's ten in the table. The taxiway network is reasonably complex and required a second plate. The airport footprint is pretty large so the diagram on the first plate pushed a lot of the text data to a third plate.

The airport is named for 1930s humorist Will Rogers, who was killed in Alaska in a crash with Wiley Post. This is a busy place, as indicated by the traffic stats - over three and a half million passengers and nearly 70 million pounds of cargo per year. Annual aircraft operations are listed at around 130,000.

Wiki tells us that this was a major military training installation in WWII. They also say the Air National Guard unit sited there was relocated in 2007, however the 2011 Google Earth shot shows a very well maintained military installation of some kind on the north side of the field with a single lonely Herky bird on an apron beside a large hangar there. The AC does not have the look of a derelict any more than the base does, so something military is still going on here no matter what Wikipedia thinks.

The GE shot shows an airport that looks very much like the FSX version. There are five runways, three of which are quite large. There are three ILSs, including one designated as a Cat. II. One small runway is closed and the GE photo shows it being used for other things. There are 20 published approaches in all, including one Localizer Backcourse approach. Supporting navaids include LOMs on the approaches to Rwys 17R and 35R and a VOR/DME a couple of miles to the south of the field. The two longest runways are only a couple hundred feet short of 10,000 feet.

I'm back from vacation. Most of what I have for you is the result of Quickmarch's labors while I was gone but I did bang out one tonight to add to his offerings. Mine is KIPL - all the Canadian airports are his.

-----

The first on the list, from March, is CZAM Salmon Arm which is in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. It's a single-runway airport of medium size. The runway is almost 4,500 X 75. Wiki doesn't say much about it besides the bare-bones location stats. It lies at the point where the Salmon river empties into a part of Shuswap Lake known as the Salmon Arm. Google Earth shows it looking pretty much like the FSX version with a few exceptions - a displaced threshold on the north end, some new taxiways and buildings on the north of the ramp and only an approximation of the existing buildings.

The ramp is roughly mid-field and is connected by a pair of taxiways. It's non-towered, but is lighted, has a Center frequency listed and has two C-t-L approaches, on GPS and one RNAV. There's an NDB on the field, a DME very nearby and a VOR/DME about 11 miles away. It's on fairly high ground at 1751 feet in FSX and has a large magnetic variation of 20 degrees.

-----

March has diagrammed CER2 Castor airport, in Castor, Alberta. Wiki has even less to say about this one than the one above. It shows in Google Earth in low res; from what can be seen there, the FSX ramp is a little more generous and a few buildings show in GE, with none in FSX That aside, they look the same.

It's a non-towered, lighted 3,000 foot X 75 foot paved strip with a small apron on a short taxiway stub off the south end. There is a MS fuel pump. No published approaches are available and the only nearby navaid is an NDB 20 miles east that just barely made the cut on distance - at 20.1 NM it wouldn't be listed.

This one is even higher than Salmon Arm, at 2704 feet.

-----

March's next airport is CER3 Drayton Valley Industrial, which is in Drayton Valley, Alberta. This one's a bit bigger than the previous two, with a runway approaching 5,100' X 75' wide. The pavement in FSX matches Google Earth very well, but there are some buildings in the latter and none in FSX. Both ends have displaced thresholds and FSX and GE agree on that.

Like the ones above, this airport is non-towered but lighted. It has no published approaches but does boast a MS fuel pump. It does have both an NDB and a DME on the field.

Wiki adds nothing to our knowledge of the place. Elevation is marginally higher yet than the airport above, this one at 2,776 feet MSL with a magnetic variation of 20 degrees.

-----

CYEA Empress - Empress, Alberta is Quickmarch's next offering. This is the smallest runway yet in this batch - about 50' shy of 3,000' and 75' wide. There's a very small rectangular ramp mid-field, set off on a short connecting taxiway. Wiki has an entry for the airport but only gives the location. GE has it in low resolution - from what can be gleaned from that it's a fair match for FSX with the exception that there is a single building shown in GE but none in FSX.

It's lighted and there is a published approach, a VOR A C-t-L, but no Center or FSS frequency listed to support it. There is a VOR/DME a mile off the field, ALMOST lined up with the extended runway centerline. This one is in high country too, at 2,211 feet MSL.

-----

CJK4 Esterhazy is in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. March has done this one in landscape format, given an E-W airport axis.

As with all listed so far, there is a Wiki article that says little beyond the fact that the airport exists and where it is. GE shows it in high-res, with a bazillion cracks in runway, taxiway and ramp, presumably sealed with tar to prevent further cracking and frost heaves, a big deal in that part of the world. The runway is 3,000 X 75.

Like the rest, it's lighted but has no tower. It has an MS fuel pump in FSX. The buildings in FSX and GE do not match closely and appear in GE to be pretty much run-down and perhaps even abandoned. The ramp is big enough for four parking spots and is on a taxiway off the runway almost precisely at mid-field.

There are no published approaches and no navaids within 20 NM. Field elevation in FSX is given as 1,700' MSL, one of the less lofty ones in this batch of airports.

-----

The last one from March for this batch is CYQW North Battleford (Cameron Mcin) in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. It turns out that the parenthetical "Cameron Mcin" in the FSX data is a truncated version of the real name, "Cameron McIntosh. The Wikipedia article describes an active gliding center here - I found two on the GE image, one beside the runway and another on short final, chasing its shadow toward the touchdown point - I predict a tie. It's a former RCAF Station and there are a number of large concrete pads that give the impression of being the footprint of removed buildings. Some of that shows in the fairly extensive and complex paved areas in FSX but it's not an exact match with GE.

There are two paved runways, one almost 5,000' X 150', the other much smaller. The field is lighted in FSX and there's an FSS frequency listed. One NDB approach is listed and a supporting NDB is about 4 miles west. This one is also on high ground at 1,799' MSL.

-----

My sole contribution today is KIPL Imperial Co airport in Imperial, California. Oddly, this one has roughly the same runway layout as CYQW above, but the non-runway parts differ considerably. The longest runway is about 5,300' X 100 and the other is only marginally smaller. There are two large ramp clusters, to the NW of the main runway, covering almost the full length. Both runways have full-length parallel taxiways on one side. There are over a dozen buildings in FSX, including a complex building that gives the impression of a medium-sized terminal building. The Wiki article seems to bear this out, listing as many as 7,000 pax served in a recent year and about 15,000 aircraft operations. The GE view pavement and building features seem to be a pretty good match for FSX, except that short displaced thresholds visible on all four runway ends are not part of the FSX airport. The satellite shot gives the impression of a fairly busy and well-maintained GA airport.

This place is far south in California, and well away from the ocean. It lies just a few runway lengths east of what I take to be the former USMC El Centro air station, now listed as a Navy airfield, and appears to be no more than 10 miles north of the Mexican Border near Calexico/Mexicali. The field elevation is listed as 56 feet below MSL, which you don't see every day.

The field is lighted; though there is no tower facility there are the usual CTAF/UNICOM, a pair of FSS frequencies and an ASOS automated WX facility. It also has an MS fuel pump. The only listed approach is a VOR A C-t-L. There is a DME about 5 miles west, very likely a TACAN at the Navy/USMC digs mentioned above. There is also a VOR/DME about six miles SE, which seems to be pretty closely aligned with the longer runway at KIPL.

You get another jumbo-size batch today. I had done one new and one update, then realized Jess-b's ongoing thread "The Grand Danube Adventure" begs for airport diagrams. I got a route and a list of destinations and alternates from her and set out to try to stay ahead of her. The German airports in the list tonight are from that list.

The diagrams that will be produced over the next week to ten days will be in support of her tour of the Danube River. I'm going to suspend updates during that time too, to concentrate on the new list.

-----

I did LTCN Kahramanmaras in Kahramanmaras, Turkey before I got onto the Danube list. This one came from one of the large lists I've been working from. Wiki has an article for it but only lists the bare bones. It does appear to be served by a couple of Turkish airlines. It's got a single runway that exceeds 7,500' and is 98' wide. It does have a tower and lights. There are no published approaches but there is a MS fuel pump on the small ramp. A VOR/DME and an NDB are both on the field.

There are only two small ramps, one at the east end and one about mid-field. Both stand off the runway by only about a runway width from the strip. There is a hefty displaced threshold at the east end.

-----

I did one update today, EGPL Benbecula, in Benbecula, UK. This is the most complex airport in the batch today, and came up for an update simply by virtue of being the oldest diagram in the collection. It's located on the island of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, off the coast of Scotland. The airport has two runways in an X pattern. There's a fairly complex network of taxiways but all of them are marked closed except one that leads to the longer runway. Access to the other runway is via that one. Looking at the GE image, there are a series of cutouts with big concrete pads, possibly the site of large buildings in the past. Wiki doesn't mention any former military usage but it sure has the look.

The longest of the runways is a tad over 6,000 feet; both are 151 feet wide. Radio frequencies include Tower, Approach and FSS. The field is lighted. There are four published non-precision approaches and a full suite of navaids (except ILS) on the field; a DME (probably a TACAN), a VOR/DME and an NDB. FSX shows a small collection of buildings off the edges of the ramp - there are a lot more in GE, but the place is far from deserted in FSX.

-----

The first of the German airports in support of Jess' Danube tour is EDNE Erbach - Erbach, Germany. This is her intended destination for the next leg. All the others that follow in this posting are alternates.

Wiki doesn't seem to have an article for this one but GE shows it. This airport has a feature I haven't seen before. There are a pair of grass runways, cheek by jowl, separated only by a white line. In GE the line is just a series of dashes. Anyway, the runways are twins, side by side, each a modest 2130' long X 98 wide. The runway numbers are as normal for parallel runways, 03R/21L and 03L/21R, which sure looks odd for a grass strip airport.

There is only a FSS radio frequency in FSX and no published approaches. It does have a MS fuel pump. The field is not lighted. There is an NDB about seven and a half miles away but not lined up with the runways.

-----

EDSN Neuhausen Ob Eck is in the city of the same name in Germany. There's no Wiki article for this one, but GE shows it. The ramps and taxiways are a quite a bit more extensive in the RW than in FSX. The sim shows a single large ramp oriented parallel to the runway with a connecting taxiway at each end. The single paved E-W runway is about 4,100' X 100'. Google Earth shows short displaced thresholds on both ends that are not in FSX. FSX shows no buildings at all but has an MS fuel pump. There's only a FSS radio frequency and no published approaches. There are a pair of navaids, an NDB and a DME, both about 15 miles away.

-----

EDTM Mengen-Hohentengen is in Mengen-Hohentengen, Germany. I'm starting to see a trend here. No Wiki article, at least not in English. It is in Google Earth and is much more extensive there in terms of taxiways, ramps and buildings than what FSX has. There also appears to be a grass strip paralleling the paved one that is not in FSX at all. This is probably the biggest disparity I've seen between a real world shot and an FSX airport and what I'm seeing in FSX does not look like recent additions. It looks like Microsoft really didn't do this place justice in FSX.

As for FSX I see a single paved runway with over-runs at both ends, one threshold much more displaced than the other. There are no taxiways or ramps, and just a fuel pump. The field is non-towered but lighted, with a single FSS radio frequency. It has no published approaches but has an NDB on the field. The runway is over 5,200' and is 98' wide.

-----

EDTU is Saulgau, in Saulgau, Germany. If you've been reading all this, it should come as no surprise by now that there's no Wiki article for this one either, so we're left with what can be gleaned from FSX and from Google Earth. As with the others, Google Earth shows a lot more than is in FSX for this airport. The strip is the same but in GE I can see a taxiway off the center to a ramp with some buildings and parked aircraft. In FSX there's nothing but the strip and a fuel pump some ways off it - not even located where the ramp is in GE. Aside from the runway, there's little resemblance between the two.

In FSX this is pretty bare boned. The runway is paved, but is a meager 1,473' X 49'. There's an FSS COM frequency listed but no published approaches. An NDB is about six miles away, not aligned with the runway.

Last on our list today is ETHL Laupheim Army, in Laupheim, Germany. Lo and behold - an extensive Wiki article exists for this one, in English! This airfield began to be constructed in 1938 for the Luftwaffe and was used extensively during WWII as a base for a training unit, a wing of night fighters and a wing of zerstorers, i.e. heavy fighters, Me 110s. The article also states that a small production facility was sited here for the Luftwaffe's Focke Achgelis Fa 223 helicopter prototype. The place came in for some rather heavy attention from the USAAF beginning in July 1944 and continued at intervals for the remainder of the war.

After a nearly two decade hiatus, the German military rebuilt the place as a home for military helicopter units and it remains in that role today. As with the other German fields we've looked at today, Microsoft gave this place short shrift, getting the runways right but including almost nothing else.

FSX shows the two runways, one grass, that match pretty will with what I see in GE, but aside from that they only include a MS fuel pump and a control tower. The field is controlled with a tower and two approach frequencies listed. Even though there is an NDB on the field there are no published approaches. The paved runway is about 5,400 feet X 98'.

You get a Baker's Dozen today - thirteen new airports. I think Quickmarch contributed almost half of them.

These are, of course, our effort to stay ahead of Jess' Danube Adventure. These are almost entirely small airports and don't require the effort to diagram that some do, so they've been fairly quick to do. For each flight leg, Jess has a destination airport and a variable number of alternates - in the tree to six range - so the airport count is higher than the leg count, if that makes any sense.

I'm going to dispense with the usual narrative about each airport until we get through these - there are just too many and for most of them there's not much to say anyway. There are still about 20 on the Danube list to do, plus a handful from the early part of her route, before the charting effort got underway. I'm going to backfit all of them but not until the legs still to be flown are covered.

It does look like we'll chew through these more quickly than I first thought. I hadn't counted on them being mainly small airports. As noted yesterday, I've suspended doing updates until I burn through this list.

If you haven't gone to the thread where Jess is posting her narrative and photos, I really do recommend you take a look. I'm including the link here one more time, to make things easy for you...

http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/8945-the-grand-danube-adventure/

Jess is an accomplished sim pilot who's gone outside her comfort zone (airliners) to fly this route in a light GA aircraft. She's an experienced writer and a good storyteller so I think you'll enjoy her adventures. She's had some ill luck with WX so far and that's made for interesting reading too.

Between March and I we have five more today, still working from the Danube Adventure list and doing quite well on it. We did hit a snag with one of Jess' designated primary destinations, LOLO, Linz Ost, in Austria. It exists in the real world and in Jess' add-on scenery but it's not in stock FSX. Since we don't have the payware scenery to work from we can't diagram that one so just had to skip it. Sometimes you get the bear - sometimes the bear gets you.

LOWL was a little more airport than most of these have been and is a two-plater - it's in a zip file.

We have four more done today, two each from Quickmarch and I. These are a continuation of working through the list for Jess-b's Danube adventure at Mutley's Hangar.

One deserves special mention for a repeat of an oddity I pointed out in another airport a couple of days ago. In that case a wide grass runway was designated as two parallel runways, even though there was no separation between them. In the case of LZVB Vajnory - Vajnory, Slovakia today we have the same thing but in this case it's done on two runways - or four, I guess, depending on how you count them.

The airport appears to have two crossing grass strips but each one is subdivided into a L and R runway. Just when you thought it couldn't get any more bizarre, in this case the strips are not divided equally - in each pair, there's a wide one and a narrow one, one at 164' wide and one at 98' wide. Can these places have so much traffic that they need two parallel grass strips in operation instead of just one? There's probably a logical reason, but it escapes me.

I only managed three more today, all from Jess' Danube Adventure list. I have a good excuse however, even better than a note signed "Epstein's Mother". Besides those three, I did seven more airport diagrams today for Rob's custom airports on the ATWC IV route. He's putting a custom hangar (Mutley's Hangar, of course) at each of the ATWC IV airports and we're doing a special diagram for each one, with some of the ATWC graphics included, as well as the location of the custom hangar shown. I'm not sending them to the subscribers or giving links here because the diagrams are no good without the AFCAD that goes with them. Check the MH File Library if you're interested and particularly if you're the pilot for one of the ATWC IV Sector 2 legs. If you are, you may want to use the scenery and the charts for both ends of your flight leg.

The three normal ones I did today were all pretty simple airports and consequently were pretty easy to do. Six of these remain to be done plus a similar number of catch-up ones that I missed at the beginning of the tour. A few more days and they'll all be in the bag.

Yikes - almost forgot to do this tonight. I had a special project today that required doing a bunch of Canadian airports. I also did another bunch of specials for Rob for the ATWC IV sector 2 airports, documenting the location of the special hangars Rob's putting in place. Busy day.

Looking at the first of the Canadian airports, I wonder if CYBL has multiple personalities... Sorry, that's as close as I can come to humor at 3:00 AM.

Don't pay the ransom - I got away. I haven't sent one of these since the night of the 20th/21st, for various reasons. These airports were done on the 22nd and were posted to the MH File Library at that time but I never got around to sending them. Several things have gotten between me and adhering to the schedule I set for myself but hope to be back on track now.

The first three on the list are by Quickmarch, who continues to do a great job but I'm gong to lose (and miss) his help for several months beginning in a few days as he has some other commitments to attend to.

The airports on the list today are still from the Danube Adventure route. There are only a few to do yet at the bottom of the list but also some that were already flown that I want to go back and do too, before reverting to my old methods of choosing airports.

I'm also going to dispense with the airport specific comments in this venue unless there is something remarkable that comes under my nose. These will be more brief than they have been.

I note an uptick in downloads from the MH File Library - at least 14 in the past two days. I'm not sure what to attribute it to but whatever it is, I'm happy to see it.

The first order of business tonight is to note a cardinal milestone - over 1,500 airport diagrams published now, with no end in sight.

Secondly, I want to again acknowledge the very much appreciated help from Quickmarch, who jumped into this project and has worked hard to emulate my "style", for better or worse. He has produced 28 airport diagrams to date, but in the style of the Aussies, in whose midst he is living at present, he's going walkabout again, this time for a fairly long period. He won't be doing airport diagrams during that time but I look forward to his contributions in the future. I just wanted to publicly thank him here for his work one more time before he gets away. We wouldn't be at 1,501 without his work being included.

I've got three new ones for you tonight, all still from the Danube Adventure list. The first one on the list is the last from those legs that Jess has not flown and posted yet. The other two - the French ones - are catch-up items from near the beginning of her adventure when she was making her way from Cardiff to the blue Danube. I have several more of those to do before tying a ribbon around this list and reverting to my old methods, which will again include an update every other day.

As always, if you have any airports you'd like to have a diagram for, please let me know. I'll do the best I can and even on short notice, just might be able to meet any deadline clocks that are ticking. Requests generally go to the top of the list.

This is two days output - I did two of these yesterday but didn't get a chance to send/post them, so it's a double batch today.

The Danube Adventure list is done, including the catch-up items I missed at the beginning of the tour. EDTD was the last of those but after dropping back to my other lists, the first one off the national capitals list was Bern, Switzerland, LSZB, which seemed pretty much like more of the same.

Finally, Springfield, Illinois from the state capitals list broke the European string and felt like being back to normal again.

One thing to note about LFSB, Basle-Mulhouse - Basle-Mulhouse, France, the first one in today's list. The designation for the small grass runway, 16L/34R in FSX is incorrect - it should be 16R/34L. In the interest of consistency with FSX, the incorrect runway labeling is used in this diagram. It looks like MS got it wrong but my job is to give you what's in FSX, not what ought to be in FSX.

I had to take about a day and a half away from these for newsletter work, so only have one for you today, and a fairly easy one at that.

I have two more lists of airports on my horizon, both of which will get priority treatment. One is Quickmarch's real-world tour of the Orient, referenced here...

I'll be making charts for that as he travels, but looking at his itinerary, about half of them are already in the library so that will not be too intense.

The other one results from DC-3 Airways upcoming World Rally. If they hold true to form this will be ten flights and they will not be contiguous flight legs. That translates to twenty diagrams but I don't have access to their itinerary yet, so will have to see what develops and when. I'll do 'em when I get 'em, but am hoping that, like March's route, some will already be done.

I expect a full production lot tomorrow, including one update - it's been a while since I've done one of those and the oldest airport charts aren't getting any newer by themselves.

I've got a full batch of three today for you. One is an update and one, VDSR, is the next stop on Quickmarch's real-world tour of the Orient. I'm glad I'm not paying for his airline tickets.

There's nothing much remarkable about any of these. The update, EGPB, Sumburgh required two plates, even though the original earlier version was only one.

The DC-3 Airways World Rally is in the offing and I'm trying to get my hands on a flight list for that - no joy so far, but once it's available you can count on there being some interesting places on it.

Happy Halloween - hope you had a spooky one!

I had a pretty productive day - the spirit moved me and I cranked out eight new ones. One is a two-plater and they're pretty much scattered around the world. Don't expect this kind of output every day - things just worked out today.

Watch out for SPHY - the elevation is 11,300 feet.
