  1. Nvidia specifically advises against using third party uninstallers and I don't use restore points because they cost too much real estate. I agree with you though about not fixing anything when it ain't broke. I always do. I uninstalled the driver first, restarted, chose custom install, ticked only the driver and clean install. Tried three different drivers already but I'm afraid something is corrupted (taskbar?) I don't know whether the surround settings are influencing things but you have to reconfigure surround after every driver update so I don't think so. Martin
  2. I wish it was possible to just change something on your flight sim pc without getting into trouble but that seems to be unrealistic. For someone who just wants to fly this is becoming increasingly frustrating. So I had a perfectly functioning FSX setup (finally) and stupidly decided to update my video driver. And now I have a system that's not functioning at all anymore. First the taskbar is empty : no more icons unless I click on the upper edge of the taskbar. Furthermore, the taskbar is inaccessible in flight. I use a surround setup in full screen mode and upon loading the NGX everything s
  3. Recently switched from OPUS to ASnext. What an improvement ! No more clouds popping and I love the weather radar in the NGX. I'm using REX texture direct plus soft clouds
  4. I'm not glad at all. I just bought this program and find it unnessecary complicated, there's no options to configure and I can't access it in flight. And now it's giving me this headache. Back to UT2.
  5. yes, it is, and also in the NGX options There's actually no traffic at the airport I'm at at the moment but I tried it anyway and the sound was gone! So I switched the traffic on again and it was still gone. Looks like there's a culprit here : MyTraffic 6
  6. I sort of figured that, yes :-) But how am I going to find out which one it is?
  7. Changing the extension to .off doesn't help : the sound is still there. I am using Mytraffic 6
  8. I tried playing the PMDG737NGX_GRND.wav file and it's exactly the problem sound. It's now playing in the outside view also.
  9. This is the entry in the sound.cfg for the NGX : [GROUND_ROLL] filename=PMDG737NGX_GRND flags=125218 viewpoint=1 minimum_speed=0.10 maximum_speed=20.00 maximum_volume=10000 minimum_rate=0.80 maximum_rate=0.90
  10. Little update, after pressing Q it was quiet for about three minutes, then the racket started again spontaneously and could not be stopped anymore.
  11. Ok, I tried reloading a few different aircraft but it;s always the same : I end up loading the NGX and it's perfectly silent (cold and dark) I then switch views to the outside world: also silent and back to the cockpit and it starts roaring. I managed to narrow it down to the "PMDG737NGX_GRND.WAV" which is the file being played very loudly inside the cockpit. But then I tried pressing Q a few times and it stopped roaring again. I'm using Mytraffic 6 (worst purchase ever)
  12. I don't actually know. This pc is only used for flightsimming so I've never tried the sound possibilities in other programs. It is an onboard sound chip on my Z97 motherboard. I'll do some tests tomorrow. Martin
  13. When I try that the noise doesn't become any less, there's only a bit less high frequencies. The sound could be realistic but it's way too loud.
  14. Hi, When I start FSX no matter which aircraft or which airport there's a constant loud roar like a sort of grey noise. I usually fly the NGX and always start with a cold and dark scenario, but still the aircraft roars at me. There's a louder roar when another aircraft passes. I can hardly hear the start-up sounds of my own aircraft. Toggling the Q key does not change anything. Very irritating. I hope to get some suggestions to help me solve this issue. I'm using FSX in DX10 mode with ASNext and Radar Contact on a client computer. Martin

    And it's only 14.500 euro's ! Wait, what ?
  16. Well, it looks as if reinstalling sp1c for the NGX may have done the trick. My brakes are back (yes, toe brakes on rudder pedals), all buttons and axes finally seem to work as they should, fsx doesn't crash anymore and looks pretty smooth. I'm very slowly and carefully starting to enjoy myself again flying the NGX. It has been a hell of a bumpy road getting to this point. I'd like to thank everybody for their ideas, solutions, suggestions and general input. I consider myself quite an authority on FSX problems now and I hope to be able to assist someone in the fufure as you have assisted
  17. It would have been funny actually making a few screenshots flying this.
  18. Found it : you have to reconfigure EZDOK before running the sim. Oh well...
  19. So I repaired the NGX install and this is the result from the outside : The cockpit is ok though. This is starting to drive me crazy. There's absolutely nothing I can install without problems.
  20. I think the culprit might actually be the saved flights. I'm doing a world tour for my VPA and save the flight every time I land. I noticed however when I set up a new flight with the NGX my brake problems are gone ! And I'll have to check but I think that a rudder trim that's way off is saved with the flight. I'll report back.
  21. Ok, next problem then : the NGX does not brake anymore. I've tried assigning the differential brakes in FSUIPC and in FSX but nothing seems to work. With the FSX default aircraft the brakes seem to work just fine. Also I noticed that the nose wheel of my 737 is always at right angles to the plane. Doesn't seem to slow it down, though, I have to use reversers to come to a complete standstill.
  22. Well, don't I look stupid. I plugged the device in a powered hub and it started working immediately. So please disregard the previous post/ Martin
  23. Ok, everything is fine now but for one annoying problem. I have build an EFIS controller by using a cheap Martzis HID interface board and it has worked like a dream. All buttons, switches and encoders assigned through LINDA. Lately I was having some difficulties with a USB hub and decided to use a internal HUB connected to my motherboard. I unplugged everything from my pc inserted the hub and reconnected everything again using the same usb ports as much as possible. Everything is working except the HID interface board. It's recognized in Windows as a HID device but buttons or switches are no
  24. So i finally managed to solve all issues and I'll post them for future reference : The unrecognized yoke : connected this through a cheap powered usb hub and have had no problems since. Sound : i finally managed to get the normal sound back in FSX. What I did was roll back the Realtek driver to the default Microsoft driver. This didn't work since the speakers were not seen as plugged in. I then reinstalled the Realtek driver via the "update driver" option in device manager. It at first didn't recognize my speakers but after unplugging and reassigning the speakers it suddenly all sounded
