  1. Hi folks After having no end of trouble with EZDok (To cut a long story short running it in Windows 7 is a pain, it appears in the task bar but I cannot bring it up whilst in FSX, and only when I quit FSX does it then bring a box up explaining it has lost connection). I'm looking for a similar add-on that replicates the bumps and jolts that you get when taxiing in a modern tube liner (ideally with the sounds too) also i'd like it to give me more of a sensation of being pushed back into the seat during take off and vice versa during landings. The only thing that I can really find is Si
  2. Hiya folks, I have UT2 installed to FSX:SE. The only problem I have with it is that airlines such as Jet2/Ryanair/Easyjet/Thomas Cook/Thomson (I.E all the regional UK operators) only exist in schedule format. To put it another way they only appear as default planes. How do I correct this to get it to show the correct livery? Should I buy the 2013 Fall schedule pack? Thank you.
  3. Thank you Martin, in answer to some of your previous questions in the end I went for the traditional fan cooling system, rather than liquid. I may upgrade at a later date, I can't remember my PSU make but it was a relatively cheap one unfortunately. I hit a bit of a "money ceiling" so to speak and had to start economising! Funny you should mention Skylark, sometimes it's a bit disheartening to throw £1,300+ at a PC when I know in around a year and a bit it will probably only be a mid-range PC. (Are you the same MartinW of Just Flight Forums? Nice to see you again if so, and hope you are well)
  4. Thank you Brian & Brett, I never knew about Steve's Fixer. I'll get that next pay day. I have now purchased the above system with two small changes. I went for a 250GB Solid State HDD specifically for Windows 7 and a 2TB Solid State HDD for FSX, both are Hybrids, whatever that means. Also I upped the PSU to 650W. A lot of money to spend but i'm hoping to see some massive improvements in FSX. Running it close to max settings would be nice... Brian - my monitor is an old Samsung 17 inch monitor.
  5. Hiya needles, thank you for taking the time out to reply. I have just upgraded it to a 650W PSU, is that adequate? I'm sorry to keep asking questions but I know next to nothing about PC gubbins. I have recently been watching some of Matt Davies' videos on YouTube and this is what made me realise my performance was so poor. The question is, will the above set up achieve the same performance as is viewable in this video, or will I have more stuttering?
  6. Hi folks, If you've seen the other thread in the scenery forum I have now decided to commit to buying a PC from Overclockers UK. What I have come up with is the following: i7 4790k 4.0 gHz Asus H81M-K Micro ATX Mobo Liquid CPU Cooler TeamGroup Vulcan Gold DDR3 16GB RAM (8GB Dual) GTX 980 Gaming Edition 2TB HDD Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 Sound Card 550W PSU Running on Windows 7 64 bit. My question is how well would this machine run FSX? At the moment using the Aerosoft A319 with ASN and Uk2000 scenery it's like a slideshow. My current specs are to the left of this post. I thought
  7. Thanks for the reply guys, i've just done some fiddling with the fftf and I am now convinced the problem lies with the JT Photo Scenery I have installed. No matter what settings I use the photo textures do not sharpen at all. Bit of a head scratcher this one....
  8. To be honest I am looking at buying the parts and then taking it to a shop for them to be put into my current rig. So really I am looking at around £600 to do it?
  9. Thank you Joe. I've just tapped in to google an i7 4770k and a gtx 980 and was surprised at the price. Is there any hardware that is similar but a little cheaper?
  10. Hi folks, I'm getting quite poor performance on FSX at the minute, I have most settings quite low... but the one I have maxed out is the terrain textures. The problem is i'm getting really blurry textures using Just Flights photo scenery for the UK. It just looks like one big blob of brown rather than being able to tell any landmarks etc. My current system spec is as follows: Asus P5QD Turbo Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 4GB RAM Nvidia GEForce GTX 550 Ti 1TB HDD Now I realise the achilles heel in all of that is my graphics card, so i'm finally accepting it is time to upgrade my syst
  11. Guys, I have several questions about FSX for you if you don't mind, here goes... 1) I have noticed with my Amsterdam Schipol scenery that the default scenery bleeds through on the ground, my frame rates aren't the best, would this be a scenery or a performance issue? I have noticed the same at Jersey, and that is the default airport, all the taxiway lines disappear. 2) What is currently the best traffic programme for the UK and Europe? I am currently using Ultimate Traffic and most of the Low Cost Operators appear as default liveries and it really detracts from the experience. 3)
  12. Awesome, thanks Brett, that was easier than I was expecting!!
  13. Hi everyone I have got to a point with the Dash 8 where I am becoming familiar with its systems and FMS, but as of yet I notice it doesn't give a TOD... does anyone know how to ask it to calculate a top of descent for me? Thanks
  14. That's ok Stu, thanks for taking the time to try and help out!
  15. Thanks Stu & Kasper. I have signed up to SimBrief for the time being to get the basics, then i'll probably move on to PFPX.
  16. I'm sorry britfrog, I couldn't get past the sentence in bold. Our need is greater than theirs? How would you feel if Ukraine used the UK or US as a war playground, citing that their need is greater than yours, and the loss of life in your country is just one of the unfortunate things? I wouldn't be very happy about it. The sad thing about the world is that we have distanced ourselves from each other just by some meaningless lines drawn on a map. "He/she's of such and such a nation, so they are nothing like me". We are all human, we all owe each other sympathy. Once we lose that, what h
  17. Hi all, I'm currently looking at purchasing PFPX after reading the review here. I use the Airbus X and ActiveSky 2012. At the moment, I go to the free RouteFinder site to get my waypoints, enter them in the Airbus FMC and have a guess at the SIDS/STARS from the FMC list. So a few questions 1) Does PFPX do most things automatically, such as choosing a flight level, entering the SIDS/STARS for me, giving me a runway for landing while planning? Ideally I want to give it two airports, and for it to do all the hard work. 2) Does it export this info seamlessly? 3) How does it work
  18. Thanks guys. That's very helpful. This is a topic I've never really looked at so pardon my ignorance. I'm looking at recreating Easyjet operations so is the procedure quoted of disengaging the AP at minimums correct? I guess that makes landing easier as it's just the very final stage of flight is in my hands. I think the best way of me practising is by doing a short hop for example Liverpool to Belfast Aldergrove. Not much flying and I enter the landing with a proper path and plan. I'll let you know how I get on. Thank you.
  19. Hi Rosario, thanks for the reply. Are only certain airports equipped with CAT III approaches?
  20. Hi guys, I have recently learnt that pilots will manually land the Airbus series of aircraft 99.9% of the time. I have always used autoland. What I want is some kind of training session so I can try my hand at landing the Airbus without having to do a "full flight" and then just mess the landing up. Ideally i'd like to practise in a variety of situations, IE foggy conditions, windy conditions etc. I have landed the Airbus by hand before, however, when the wind is gusting it always seems to blow me off track at the final moment and I end with a very sloppy landing. Your advice is ap
  21. Hi all, I have just downloaded the Summer 2011 flightplans for UT2 (for a further fiver!!) and still the AI seems to be sparse. For example, I just looked at all of the Easyjet flights and i'm sure they haven't included all the flights in there, there aren't enough! Does anyone know where I can get repaints for the default AI, and where I can get a proper set of flight plans from? Thank you.
  22. Thanks SEATAC, UT2 is appealing to me due to the higher quality of AI plane over Traffic X. Although Traffic X has loads of GA and military AI. If UT2 had this, it would swing it for me. I'm wondering which one is the easiest for creating new flight routes for AI. Namely the new easyJet routes out of Southend.
  23. Hi all, I have finally decided to jump over to FSX after watching a video of the 737NGX. I simply can't sit in the past any longer. I want to use FSX to pretend to be a Ryanair pilot. I have got Ultimate Terrain Europe and Ground Enviroment X. I have also downloaded SP1 & 2. I have looked at traffic packages and am undecided between UT2 or Traffic X. So can anyone think of "must have" add ons for commercial 737 flying? What is the best traffic package? Finally, what do people think of the A2A training videos? I have never learnt the 737 so will be buying their instructional videos to he
  24. Hi guys, After many hours of being fed up and annoyed with FS2004, I have decided to install FSX. Can anyone recommend any good add-ons for it? Cheers.
  25. Thanks guys Mut is correct, it is the original VFR scenery, I don't like how it blurs in the distance but we can't have it all!
