It was nice to see so much interest from other countries - most notably Canada, Australia & NZ, USA and Japan I thought.
Watched the service and then later the fly-by and balcony scene on TV. The service overall was fantastic in my opinion... Kate looked beautiful as did everyone there. I was impressed with their choice of hymns too. There have been hundreds of roads closed in Surrey for street parties. The Union flag flew proudly outside the front door and we had a small celebration (i.e. I made some cookies)
One thing I noticed.. not sure if anyone else did too... when William & Catherine left for the second time, we saw them driving in an Aston Martin. At the same time, an RAF helicopter flew overhead dangling a flag. The BBC narrator said he believed that to be William's personal banner, but to me it just looked like the regular RAF flag.

It might be cheaper elsewhere - but I always prefer Amazon as they have always treated me well
Amen to that.

UPDATE: Doing a kind of MOT service for my PC at the moment.. performance tweaking and trying to improve the graphical glitches.
Here's a video I made of dense default scenery at Friday Harbour. There a few glitches you will notice, but hopefully they're just normal (?).
Please ignore the flying, this is only a performance testing video.

Hi Joe. Thanks for that.. it seems to have improved my FSX performance slightly, but has done nothing for these graphical problems :001_th_smiles48:
I've always had glitches with graphics on FSX .. but they seem to have gotten worse (or maybe it's just me).

Hi George
I've noticed the occasional spike that is caused by scenery not fitting exactly - particularly by the coast, in the sea - and I do get vertical lines coming from scenery like trees. Both, generally, disappear - they are transient, although I have made a couple of screenshots. Maybe that's an idea for a comp?!?
Let's face it, FSX has a mind of its own, eh?
Cheers - Dai.
Hey Dai, thanks for the reply. I've found a couple of vids on youtube that show the problem I'm having. Mines not really this bad, but you get the idea...
My FSX really does have a mind of its own. Something different crops up every time I use it.

George

Hi all,
I've always noticed strange graphical hitches with my FSX ever since I got my new PC (nearly 2 years ago) and one thing I've always noticed is slight graphical distortions when frames stutter in FSX. I use the default scenery for the UK, so whenever I fly out of airports there, frames stutter slightly (where they keep flicking from low to high frames). However, whenever I move the camera during the stutters (particularly in spot view) I always notice strange graphical distortions for split seconds.. the clouds might skew a funny texture, or there might be a flash where the ground textures distort for a split second. Once the frames become smooth again, i.e. in the sky where my frames normally remain high and smooth, I can move the camera without seeing any distortion. Also, this problem seems to be mostly with the default FSX scenery. I've never seen any graphical distortions such as those mentioned at Alderney (Earth Simulations) or while using FTX (Australia/PNW). It's also worth noting that I never see distortion when the camera is still. It's only once I start to move the camera, there's slight distortions inbetween frames stuttering.
I have tried capturing these flash distortions in screenshots, but have never managed. I'm wondering whether this is because FSX loads the textures properly (i.e. without distortion and then takes the screen, or whether I'm just not quick enough). Either way, I have never managed to capture it in a screen.
Like I said, I've always had problems like this with FSX, but I've noticed it more and more recently and it's starting to worry me slightly. Does anyone else have the same problem or a similar problem - or ever had a similar problem? I'm not too good at explaining problems like this, but I hope you can understand/relate.

George

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
All the 16:9 shots were taken by me.. the camera was a FujiFilm FinePix F80 EXR.
All the 4:3 shots were taken by my Sister.. her camera was a FujiFilm FinePix HS10 (Zoom x30)
If you haven't already, please watch my vid: (sorry for the plugging )

Great shots Alan and educational too, does that count as homework?!!
Cheers,
Joe
FS Homework..nice. Great shots, Alan. I can't work out whether this is FSX or FS9. The texture pattern in shot 8 looks like FSX.. then others look like FS9.

Nice aircraft too, I flew in one from Orlando to Miami :001_th_smiles89:
They are very nice, Joe. A tight squeeze inside though. I've just recently flown on one (BMI Regional) from Berlin Tagel - London Heathrow.

Hi all,
Here's a few shots I wanted to share of a short flight I did earlier from Exeter to Biggin Hill in the Embraer ERJ 145.
Now my new desktop background:

Hope you enjoyed those. Thanks for looking! :001_th_smiles89:

I love the way the lightning seemingly clips the Spittie's prop!
I was thinking that too! Great capture, GF. I love a good thunder storm.

Pretty spectacular lighting on all those shots, Soya. Crystal clear.
It's very encouraging to see just how far FSX can go nowadays without editing the shots...

Perfect! Lighting tweak looks good too. Great editing...

Much much better, GF! Looking at that now, it would look really nice if there was another jet in the middle of those two, but inbetween the two sizes.. as though they are all in a line. Good work with the tail too.
Cheers,
George

Very nice edit, GF. Nice use of distance, especially with the aircraft in the foreground. Have to agree with Joe about the size of the tanker though. Unless it's a way left of the refuelling plane, it looks a little on the small side.
Really nice job, though. Just look at the angle on those 787 wings! :icon_thumbup:

Do seperate drives have Program Files? I have windows running on its own seperate drive on C. Then I have another TB drive for FSX/FS9 and other games/sims. However, I've just installed all of these in a "Games" Folder.. i.e. X/Games/FSX. When I bought the drive it was blank. So how come you guys have Program Files on those drives?
The OS drive (C:) is only 160GB and I haven't installed anything on it except I use the My Documents/Pictures etc. And also I've installed my anti-virus software onto C. I haven't encountered any problems with UAC on my main PC that I'm speaking about but I believe it's still there. However, any time I want to do anything on my laptop, it seems to crop up all over the place. E.g. Creating new folders prompts a UAC message? I imagine this is the sort of thing you mean in terms of problems with FSX in its default location?

Hi all,
Sorry to post another topic under Berlin. Just wanted to share a video that I made containing photos of the trip, and other general highlights of Germany/Berlin. The majority of the photos were taken by me on the trip, but only two of the videos (Reichstag and Flag) are my own. The rest are from various sources.

Thanks, Joe. Glad you liked them.
Couple things I forgot to mention about the flight back.
Firstly, the captain on the flight home was a female. This is the first time I've seen this in all the flights I've been on, but it's great to see.
Secondly, on the flight home, the two flight attendants were in and out of the cockpit like yoyos and on the phone for a good 30min period mid-flight. What sort of things could be going on here?
Cheers,

Hi folks,
Yep. It's only been a month since my weekend trip to Paris, and now I've just got back from Berlin! That's the advantage of taking 2 languages for A-level! :001_th_smiles89:
Not as visually impressive as Paris or London, but Berlin is a city dripping in history, and with World War II and the Fall of the Berlin Wall, it's quite a significant city in Modern History. There's also a very beautiful zoo and in terms of shopping.. well let's just say Mum and Sister were happy.
The flights were between London Heathrow and Berlin-Tagel. Airline: BMI/Lufthansa Star Alliance.
Airbus A319, parked up at Berlin-Tagel.
Hotel. (The Westin Grand Berlin)
Brandenburg Gate.
Me and the Gate.
Reichstag:
Lots of Flags:
BierBike! (Beer bike) :icon_thumbup:
British Embassy.
Veyron at the VW showroom:
Berlin Zoo:
Finally. Parked up at London Heathrow. Flight back was in an ERJ-145:
Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for looking

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the replies. In terms of quality, both look absolutely top notch, as most of you have stated.
So therefore down to preference, I think I'll go for the BN2... then perhaps a bit later I'll purchase the Twotter too.
Cheers,
George

Hi Guys,
As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of the Carenado GA Aircraft. But now I'd love to venture into the world of super light aircraft airliners. I've always wanted a BN2 Islander, but looking at Aerosoft's twotter aswell... it's quite a hard decision. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the BN2. I know Joe and a few others on here have the DHC-6, so what would you suggest?
Cheers,
George

Thanks guys. Installed and working great now.
Joe, how can you tell which version of the addon you currently have? I.e. which need to be updated?
Cheers,
George
