This is for those of you who love to hop in "bush wilderness" aboard A2A Simulations' amazing Cessna 172R Training. We are not always satisfied with what we're being offered. So am I! As an avid virtual bush flyer, I've tried many navigation logs till now but each of them lacked this or that feature. So, I've decided to make my own. Here is the result of this challenge - it took me quite a while to get what I want but I hope you'll like it too.skyLOGX [skaɪ lɒdʒɪks] is a VBA-based Excel spreadsheet application to ease your pre-flight workload with A2A C172R although with slight modification in programming routine, the logic can be applied to any fixed-pitch propeller aircraft. Actually, I'm planning to release similar apps for Piper Cherokee 180 and the recently released Cessna 182 Skylane, both from A2A. Stay tuned!I've tried to keep user interaction as simple as possible - you essentially need to load your FSX/P3D flight plan and skyLOGX will do the rest for you. There is no user manual currently (the user interface is quite intuitive, actually) and some improvements must be done before I release the stable version but I'm planning to further develop the app, if I can see a reasonable interest from the user community and spare some time from my real-world obligations, of course...A couple of notes on user interaction although I've tried to make UI as friendly as possible:
- you can enter data to any of the "user cells" with green font colour.
- hovering over cells with red triangle at upper right corner will reveal some useful tips.
- you're absolutely free to add, edit or delete data to/from the files inside "data" folder provided that the format and location of files are kept intact. Think of these files as freely expandable user database.
- currently skyLOGX is NOT compatible with the freeware Open Office Calc / Libre Office Calc due to their poor support for VBA-macros. But I'll check the feasibility of Calc version in future...
Keeping short, please try skyLOGX and, most importantly, SHARE your thoughts, wishes, complaints, etc! I'm always open to constructive discussion. Currently, all discussion goes on relevant A2A Forum, so make sure to check that link once in a while.Prerequisites:* Microsoft Excel 2007 or higher* Enabled macros* FSX/P3D flight plan (in XML format). I have found a couple of interior textures by Chris Brisland, a.k.a "Eagleskinner", at RTMM website. If you're still interested, fly DCT to http://return.mistymoorings.com/enhancements/#r
Chris, if you can hear me - THANKS a million!!!

Captains,
I'm looking for a set of "bushy" interiors for my Beaver - I miss those greasy fingerprints on the panel, some dirt on the floor, and that winking pinup lady next to the radio stack, you know...
I checked with Avsim but most of them are exterior textures. Any clue?
Thanks!
Rustam
PS: While I'm here, don't forget to check these "masterpieces" too: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=root&Name=&FileName=&Author=burkhardt&DLID=&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View

Duncan,
Thank you for your contribution and detailed explanation! As a developer myself, I do understand the challenges you're facing - this is just to make sure that I won't be the player blaming AH2.
What you'd achieved so far with AH1 is already a blessing for our community!
Thanks!

Just come visit us in Sweden Victor...
We're a nice bunch..
Oh, and if you are flying in Norway, beware if you get a job going to ENRA.. That's one tricky airport to get into...
Lol... Yeah, you got my number. Indeed, since my base is in Hamar, I got tons of svenska assignments anyway ...
And btw, ENRA sounds good after what I saw on a downwind to rwy23 Petersbourg (PAPG) under a snowy stormy evening a couple of weeks ago... Brrrr....

Dolf, the shots are great - never imagined Italy be so sexy in FSX. What's the scenery you are using?
Thanks!
-
Thank you, Brett! Great find...
-
Thank you, John! I guessed that too... but I can live with that. Will accept jobs within my base country for now but am gonna ask Duncan to take a note before he releases version 2. Dunno if it's been added to his Wish List already though...
Thanks!!!

Captains,
The title says it all - really, is it possible?
The US is big and a single job 200nm away from the base is not a big deal. But there are countries such as Norway or Switzerland which you can easily fly from one end to another in a couple of hours and even in C172.
On the other hand, it seems more real to me for a startup hauler to make flights within the base country first, and some time later to extend the services to neighboring countries.
I tried to make distances shorter through Options but since my base (ENHA) is not far from the border, some of the jobs are reaching the territory of Sweden anyway.
Any advice how I can make AH to get me right?
Thanks!

My best wishes to Alan as well!!! From a very distant Mutley member...
I'm kinda new here and don't know Alan same as the veterans of our community. But it's very warm and friendly here.

You are very welcome mate - I do notice some blurries on the plane though? Do you have your TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD = 4096 in the config? I found if it is not that then the textures on the minor details look a bit blurred.
Either way as long as you are satisfied mate then I am happy too Nice to see someone using one of my creations
Thanks,
Jim
Thank YOU!
Yes, I got my fsx.cfg tweaked and TML=4096. That blurry is probably due to XnView - my screen capturing tool. I'm not a screenshot professional - just open it, take a shot, crop to upload size and that's it! So, please bear with me...
Oh, almost forgot... Keep it up, mate!
-
A token of my gratitude to Jim's highly appreciated repaint of my favourite C172 from the A2A team. Thank you, mate!!!

Fantastic shots!!! Really liked them...

Hey Jim,
You made my day, you know... It's stunning and a perfect fit for my beauty. Taking her on a short FSE flight to Missoula, MT tonight - 3 dudes are waiting for me on the ramp at Kalispell now ...
Thank you very much!!!
-
Sorry for being a pain in the ass, Jim, but... just out of curiosity - have you finished with this one? If so, can I download this sexy outfit for my birdie?
You know, she particularly likes those chrome retouches...
Thanks!

As a bad habit (?) inherited from my "pre-DX10 Fixer" days I've still been using the famous external limiter but am thinking to drop it since I rarely see FPS drop below... 70-80 now (with a limiter set to 30fps max).
PS: Btw, my PC configuration is still the same found under my avatar.
-
I did it an easy way: installed REX on a separate drive since I was planning to rarely use it anyway (also to refrain from defragging rarely used REX textures continuously, as opposed to FSX folder).
Then, I used these settings (scroll down to the end of post) and injected the textures... That's it!
It's still on my drive in case I change my mood and want to recolour the skies but for weather I definitely use Opus - particularly like its wind shear and crosswind FX immediately before touchdown...

Thank you, Sir!
Just completed my first successful flight from Petersburg to Juneau. It's 6:30am here...
My bird's sitting on the ramp while I'm unloading fresh Petersburg poultry delivered for Juneau's gourmet restaurants and trying to cheer up a poor guy behind the scales who ain't happy freezing his ass on the ramp just because he gotta share a company of a Petersburger freight dog waiting for a forklifter boy to pick stinky meat up to his truck...
-
Oh, thank you, John, that was pretty quick I must say...
-
Now the cockpit looks like a real freight-dog machine...
-
Thanks for your tips, guys - you fueled up my interest even more...
And with Duncan's blessing we hit the ground: http://www.airhauler.net/portal/Stats/CompanyStats.php?SId=44770

Thank you, John - that's a great startup tutorial for a newbie like me...
Apart from debiting 100K (?) for opening a new base at PAPG in Career mode (versus 10K in your post above), everything sounds and behaves nice so far...
PS: Btw, I think it's worth getting all these tutorials/articles scattered around here under a single/sticky thread maybe...
-
Congrats on your new purchase, Jim! Btw, which type of aircraft is updated to v2 - Turbine or Piston?
