dodgy-alan 1,587
Flown in tribute to Steve Fossett. The Scale Composites Rutan Global Flyer. more information here guys, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Atlantic_GlobalFlyer and details about Steve Fossett, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Fossett Flying this thing is like being an astronaut. the cockpit is highly pressurised. the curious nose down taxi stance lift off, 83% of the aircrafts weight is fuel! the view from the VC is fantastic! climbing out to cruise height up at 50'000 ft Going global touching down, the lift generated is so good that drogues are streamed to slow the aircraft down. Thanks for viewing. comments welcome. Aircraft model is freeware and available now. globfl.zip
brett 2,316
Thanks for the link and the shots Alan. It's a pretty cool piece of work and some flight record too. I see that the service ceiling is 51,000 feet but with all the statistics given it does not mention his cruising altitude. Anyone know.
