FW190 at my airport!

Recommended Posts

Pretty cool, as long as a Luftwaffe pilot didn't get out were all safe and in the right time continuum. :D  They say it was a kicka** aircraft until the Spitfire Mk. IX came along. It's amazing some of these planes still fly, interesting it showed up by you, is there an airshow around?

looking at the prop it looks like an european turning engine which means it must be a rare benz engine if so , this must be the a/c from the flying heritage collection at Paine field owned and created by paul allen of microsoft fame.

I did ask specifically if it was the one that Paul Allen owns... it is not.

It was on a cross country flight from somewhere in Florida to the Evergreen Museum in Oregon, the N number is 447FW, afaik it is legit, he said it was restored in Germany back in the 80's, other than that, he was pretty tight lipped about it.

It's a beauty whoevers it is. Cannot understand some collectors, they spend a fortune on restoring aircraft to flying condition, (or even having perfect replicas built),get them all certified, then stick 'em in a shed never to fly again! Just what is the point! Kermit Weeks has done it to a few of his, others have too. If this aircraft was destined for a museum I do hope it's kept as a flying exhibit. It deserves to be seen whilst it can be.

This is The Erickson Group but it seems that they are also invested in a few aeronautical companies also, joint ventures they call them. Might see this aircraft at some functions, who knows. The company owner, by the same name, might have a Scandinavian and North German heritage as they have changed the spelling of the name over time from the original Eiríkr to Erichsen, Eriksen, Ericsson, and Eriksson and Erickson. Hmmm, reason for the tight lips. :whis:
