britfrog 180
has anyone bought this? I am starting to wish I hadnt, i have spent 3 days trying to start it and have only succeeded once it is driving me to distraction. the engines spool up but will not light and even when i turn off all the power inc battery i still get the spooling up sound even if i hit Q.If i change the a/c for another model i still get the spooling up sound. I have tried to go from one running a/c to the 146 and the engines all stop but i still have the spooling up sound. their 757 was far better than this. So have uninstalled and will reinstall it if that doesnt work the first person who asks me for it can have it.
hifly 925
I'll have it Nigel and will donate £10 to Mutley.
jaydor 345
Pretty obvious you are doing something drastically wrong with your installation or have a corrupted download, as the QW 146 is up there with the top notch products. Stick with it Nigel, you will enjoy it when you get there and then we will hear nothing but praise from you. Promise..
britfrog 180
well i did stick with it and re-installed it and that stopped the engines spooling up and not starting, i then downloaded a new service pack , which didnt do a lot. I have managed to fly a vnav flight in an rj100 however it wont follow an ils , once the vnav gets it to the ils , it loses its way and wont capture the ILS even though it is showing on the pfd. and it is dialed in on the radio The visuals of the plane are good all the rest shows the hallmark of flight 1's budget limits How can a company make a really good effort as they did in their 757 and take 3 steps back with a later product? I do hope you are right Jaydor as i do want to get on top of this but at the moment all the signs are not good, this is not a competitor for PMDG or Aerosoft which I had hoped it might be Hifly watch this space!! I may well take you up on your offer
UKJim 502
I have had the qw 146 for some time now and never had that problem? I put the cold and dark entry in the config file. Look in the manual or forum for that
britfrog 180
well at the 6th attempt I finally beat the thing into submission and managed an ILS landing , very difficult when you dont have a localiser bar or glide slope in the pfd . I must say it is very frame friendly it is like jumping back in time flying this after the the airbus. I will persevere a bit longer
hifly 925
There you go Nigel, persistance and bloody mindedness pays off. I have JFs 146 and didn't like it at first, now it's in my top 3 along with Capt Sims 707 & 727, now that is jumping back in time. My next challenge is the Dash 8-Q400. Brett Culley 0
that about all i fly is quality wings planes, they are some of the easiest to fly and you can almost just jump in and go, the upcoming 737 and 787 will be even better
britfrog 180
I have now spent quite a few hours over the last few months getting used to the 146's idiosyncracies, it is very frame rate friendly and that is nice, the autopilot does need an upgrade though as it is very hit or miss if it will capture an ILS or not. I cant get over how old fashioned the cockpit is, as I thought it was a fairly modern a/c as the americans really took to it, such a shame it sat on the drawing boards for 10 years or more before getting funding. The 146-300 cockpit is equipped to the same level as my Aztec was ,so it is very easy to fly with a basic autopilot, in some ways much better than the RJ system and later aircraft like the airbus which take the pleasure out of flying and turn you from a pilot into a systemes manager.
