stu7708 244
Hello all interested pilots After Dai brought section 4 to a close with his flight into Port Moresby it's now time to continue on our challenge with Section 5. The section is divided into a total of 13 legs taking us across South East Asia, over the Indian Ocean and on to the Zanzibar archipelago off the eastern coast of Tanzania. On average the legs are roughly 620 nm if flying direct between the airports, with the shortest leg measuring just under 270 nm and the longest just over 1,200 nm. All relevant, and some irrelevant, information can be found in the departure board at the end of this post. The bidding window for section 5 will open on March 26th at 18:00 UTC. As usual send your "bids" with the legs you are interested in flying to atwc@mutleyshangar.com. Only bids sent to that e-mail, that arrives after the window opens will be eligible for assignments. For those that have had problems getting your bids through to me on earlier sections, feel free to drop me a PM on the forum after e-mailing your bid, so I can confirm that it have arrived safely. Also remember that you can bid for more than one leg. So if you want to maximize your chances of getting an assignment you feel comfortable flying I strongly recommend that you list ALL the legs you are interested in, ordered by preference. Looking at the departure board there are a total of three legs that have a restriction imposed on them. So if you are bidding for leg 43, leg 47 and/or leg 55 please make sure that the type of aircraft you plan on using meet those criteria, and include the type in your bid. Bids for legs with out a restriction does not need to have a type of aircraft specified. Finally, remember that the ATWC is open to all members on this forum, there is no need to be on the list of registered ATWC pilots in order to participate! Looking forward to your bids and PIREPs. Fly safely and keep the blue side up Micke
