hifly 925
Nice one Loic. Although knowing Welsh weather it will probably be raining within in ten minutes.
dodgy-alan 1,587
Makes a change that its not raining, now you need to get down in the weeds over the Brecon Beacons! (but don't go to near my friends farm as you'll scare her sheep!............Its just south of Llandovery near a village called Myddfai)
ddavid 149
That's a nice screenshot, Loic - thanks for sharing. I wonder, though, your Aberporth looks as if its south of Naples with all those tall cypresses! Apart from that, the weather in Wales has been dry for the last few weeks, so south Italy is about right! Cheers -Dai.

I always considered this is a flight sim, so I'm not too concerned about what's on the ground, as long as the geography is OK and it doesn't look too bad without impacting my FPS. I usually download freeware addons to make a little prettier the places Air Hauler sends me to.
ddavid 149
I'm with you on the geography, Loic - default suffices in distant lands, I guess. Installing a more accurate mesh helps and, sometimes, an obliging developer will have manipulated the land-class to be more representative. However, when I know the area intimately, like Wales, it has to be photo-real - I can't match what I know to be there with what I see. Maybe you feel that way about France? Cheers -Dai. Corsaire31 419
I can understand, I am using the nice freeware "Occitania" for the south west of France where I live (in fact a whole 1/4th of France) with quantity of textures added, special autogen with many VFR objects and almost every airfield redone. But in fact I spend most of my flying time in other parts of the world...
Corsaire31 419
Flew the same job route today and got a great weather again... Scattered clouds between 1800 and 5000 ft, had to fly 6000 ft from Guernsey over Cornwall up to EXMOR crossing. They disappeared completely over Swansea and Wales was clear weather. hifly 925
Lioc were you using real weather? Today we've had storms, sunshine, showers et al. Some amazing RW skyscapes here this evening. I'd love to post some pics here but since getting my new pc I can't for some reason.
Corsaire31 419
I'm using the dynamic weather function of FSX, I thought until now it was real weather as it is corresponding to the METAR/TAF I am getting from other sources on the net before deciding to fly a job. The south coast of England where you are was indeed under many clouds so I suppose it's like on my side of the Channel, you get many weather changes during the day. ( When sailing there we used to say " If you're not happy with the weather, just wait an hour !) It was only over western Wales that I found blue sky. This is how it was when I hit the coast of Cornwall at 6000 ft around 14:15 Z. Looking east in your direction it looked like more clouds as looking west it was clearing up on Land's End. There was a good westerly breeze around 18 knots which was probably pushing the clouds eastward.

britfrog 180
I also use Occitania , Loic, and combine it with France VFR and many other free french sceneries.
Corsaire31 419
I also use Occitania , Loic, and combine it with France VFR and many other free french sceneries. I was sure you would use it, this is a great job of several years from a talented team. In fact as said above, I don't make many virtual flights over this region that I know ( I fly quite often with friends who invite me from Muret - they don't like to fly alone... ) so I prefer in my virtual flights discovering new places I don't know so well and where I will probably never fly irl. ( Except for the Channel Islands but this is a special project I explained in the Air Hauler forum )
