britfrog 180
Having seen the latest southampton promo pics in the fog I recently upgraded my ftx southampton scenery to the latest version which gives some amazing new lights and stuff so I tried to reproduce the ftx photos So for those with ftx Southampton please do the following using an a/c of your choice (I used the Carenado 337) do not activate any weather other than that which comes with P3D set the weather theme as fogged in set the time as summer , but dusk say 19.30 ish now start the sim and tell me what happens when you try to taxi i am down to 6fps after quite a wait for things to settle down and is totally unflyable by comparison using the same setup in FSX with DX10 I am getting 33fps!! and is totally useable I would be interested to hear what others are getting in either program
Christopher Low 63
Between 16 and 20fps (according to the framerate counter) with my rather high detail settings (but no AI planes). However, it feels exceptionally smooth. On a side note, I do have an issue with the fog. I am seeing a straight line (roughly halfway up the windscreen) that seems to be some kind of boundary for the fog. That is something that needs to be sorted out on my PC, so any suggestions would be welcome.
britfrog 180
i get that line when i am using rex in fsx and it only happens when i am near a join of 2 levels of cloud , interestingly I dont get that n P3D
Christopher Low 63
Actually, I should note that my framerate figures are with a limited framerate of 30fps. They would probably be higher if I set this to Unlimited.
britfrog 180
hopefully someone else will give us something to compare with, as for me I think I have to go back and look mat the .cfg file because performance or lack of it has always been my problem with P3D
britfrog 180
well i deleted my p3d .cfg and let it write another and managed to get the 20fps as well, i guess I will have to find out where the log jam has been created in the old.cfg
