Excellent photo-scenery, Michael - looks very professional. Are the tiles from Google, or did you use another source? The mesh looks quite good, so, I guess it isn't the default.

BTW, "Waltz of the Hours" is fine with me, Bach!

Brilliant! Michael that was fantastic. Can you tell us a bit more about your home made scenery.

 

And the music was just right, better than a bunch of warbling boyos.

Thank you for your kind comments.

 

I have spent the last 3 to 4 years making scenery with all the available software until about a year ago I stumbled upon an Italian software FS Earth Tiles which to me is absolutely brilliant, and it is so simple to us. You can set it up and leave it over night chugging away on the internet.

 

The images in this video are courtesy of Microsoft not Google.

 

Its all the default stuff in FSX running on an old PC using XP but it works for me.

 

For the UK I use UK 2000 airports which do add some realism into the scenery and in both Pembrokeshire and Italy I have made airports using Airport Design Editor 160.

 

There's a load more videos on YouTube for you to see although I am just about to jump ship to an alternative called Daily Motion, not the best names for a video channel!!!!! I have found with You Tube the colours are changed and the sound quality not very good which doesn't give justice to my uploads.

Hi,

 

I had a friend in Wales test both video channels and he agrees with me that YouTube although it has its moments has far better picture quality.

 

So its curtains to Daily Motion then!!!!!

Thanks for that although I already have the updated version which you probably know works extremely well. Regarding Daily Motion I found the picture quality not as good as YT and therefore closed my account. Perhaps I have been a bit quick off the mark then?

i have to agree with your conclusion with regards to DM
upload a 1080 video, and give the system time to render the 1080 version
then compare one to one, but make sure you lock you video to 1080
as DM will adjust if you’re in small screen when left on auto

you can use some of my videos to compare as well
i post dual links to DM and YT since most sites don’t support DM tags yet
if they were; i wouldn’t bother even posting YT links the image is so poor compared to DM; especially in HD

You’re very welcome Michael

DM doesn’t allow for soundtrack editing directly

but you can embed your own soundtrack in your video before you upload

there are many free tools that will allow you to add your sound to your video

and you won’t be limited to YT free music collection

I have watched both links ad YT video is a much clearer picture BUT has the stutters. The DM video is very fuzzy and sort of out of focus and doesn't seem to suffer too much on the stuttering side.

 

At the time of watching my ADSL specs as follows...

 

Last Result:
Download Speed: 3085 kbps (385.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 474 kbps (59.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 61 ms

I’m seeing the exact opposite of you, YT is grainy at the highest res, while DM is much more crisp

especially if i compare to the source; DM is almost as clear as my source; while YT is far from it

i think your player may play some part in what you’re seeing

im using media player classic (MPC) with latest KLite codec pack

Thanks for your comments. Well I must be doing something wrong which is very easy to do! I just watch my videos using my web browser which is Torch, based on Chrome.

 

Please let me know how I should be watching videos on YT and DM please?

OK not to be beaten by technology I tried my VLC media player, that plays YT OK but will not play DM, it is the latest version I checked for updates first.

 

Put VLC to one side downloaded the latest version of MPC-HC and that only plays YT and not DM.

 

Oh for the simple things in life!!!

Have returned from darkened room........did what you advised and DM will NOT play in the media player. It comes up with a message, Playing, then followed by Stopped.

how are you downloading the stream file?

I’ve downloaded DM rendered file, its 220mb, plays perfect here on win8.1 x64

I’ve been using this particular setup since my winXP

whenever i get a file that doesn’t play right away

i update klite pack and all is good

Hi Chris,

 

Have just returned from my padded cell.

 

Having tried playing DM and YT and it fails every time,  I then decided to uninstall both the media player and update codec pack. VLC player works OK with YT but not DM. Oh dear, then I end up with no sound on my computer.

 

I have now been able to repair the sound after spending all morning in front of the machine.

 

Now I have my PC working as it did a few days ago I will leave well alone for the time being.

whoosh, thank you for that Michael I’m glad it worked out,

i was very upset that you got in trouble over a simple update

now do the same with YT video and compare the two locally

you should be able to notice the difference in no time
