Recommended Posts

Hi all!

A Beech 77, owned by a man, has crashed. The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) are investigating how the aircraft developed tech difficulties.

The aircraft crashed after trying to return to Knock West Airport, Ireland. The person on board the aircraft, one 51-year-old Markus Casey, has sadly died. He had one other passenger, see below

From 'Galway News'

The man who was killed in a plane crash in Co Mayo yesterday was from Galway City.

He has been named as 51-year-old Markus Casey, an experienced pilot from Dr. Mannix Road in Salthill.

Markus had been secretary of Galway Flying Club based in Carnmore and is well-known in aviation circles.

He had a commercial pilots licence and registered his 2-seater Beech 77 light aircraft last November.

His light aircraft crashed at Kilmovee yesterday evening, shortly after its take-off from Knock airport on its way to Weston Airport in Dublin.

A passenger on the plane, John Dunphy, a senior engineer with Wicklow County Council, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Another crash, another investigation, another death.

Kieran
