So, the DC-8 is 50 :wink: :dance2: :dance2: - 556 were made, with 110 of the -70 series. The DC-8 has had 3 different engines - -50 to -63 series having Pratt & Whitney JT-3, -70 series having CFM56 turbofan and the -40 series having Rolls Royce 'Unknown'. UPS, and many cargo operators, big and small, operate the DC-8. But the orginal design wasn't this big. The DC-8 was orginally designed to replace the DC-3 as the 'Skybus'. Seating is for 48. The design was dropped, the 707 came along, the DC-8 reborn, the DC-8 still operating! Also inclueded is a poll, which first jetliner do you like the most??? Kieran Link to post Share on other sites
