patrico 8
The guy who scammed me out of £400 set up my FSUIPC for me 5 months ago (my how time fly's) and now suddenly they are all gone, some things work like the throttle control and yoke but none of the buttons work Everything on my throttle quadrant works except the buttons, same on my yoke. Can anyone help please
allardjd 1,853
First check that FSUIPC is still installed and that FSX is seeing it. Start FSX and check the top-line menu for an Add-ons pad. Select that and there should be a FSUIPC pad on that menu. Select that and it will show the FSUIPC version number, etc. If all that's there, you still have a good installation, which is probably the case. If FS has lost the bubble on your setup you'll just have to use the FSX Settings menu to re-set, reconfigure and re-calibrate your controllers. John
patrico 8
thanks John its all there and therein lies my problem how to recalibrate it
allardjd 1,853
Top-line menu -> Options -> Settings -> Controls From the list box, select the controller you want to work with. Use the "BUTTONS / KEYS" and "CONTROL AXES" tabs to select which controls you want to perform which functions, then use the "CALIBRATION" tab to run the calibrations. Do this for each of the devices in the list box. It's all a little arcane but with a little trial and error and experimentation you should be able to work your way through it. Keep going back to the cockpit and checking what you've done to see how it works. There's no prescribed right or wrong way to work through all this and it's different for everyone depending on the variety of hardware devices you have plugged in and how you want the switches and axes set up, i.e. what switch does what and how sensitive the axes are, etc. If your settings are completely lost, consider using the various "Reset Defaults" buttons that are sprinkled through the Settings screens, but if only a few things are not working you might better pass those by and make the individual fixes manually. Once you've got everything the way you want it, a series of screenshots of the settings screens, saved to a folder somewhere, might make it easier next time to reset everything to your liking. The paid/registered version of FSUIPC also includes a capability to save the settings for specific aircraft and reload them at will and permits any number of saved setups that can be pulled back in as needed. I haven't used that but I understand it's a very nice feature of the registered version.
allardjd 1,853
Patrico, just an add-on to the above. "Axes" and "Rotations" can be a little confusing when you first encounter them but they're really the same thing - just the output from a linear control, i.e. a pot. The main function of the yoke or joystick actually has two axes, one fore and aft, one side to side. Those are separate controls and can be adjusted separately for sensitivity, deadband and such. Anyway, axes and rotations are very much the same thing. They are typically used for rudder, elevator, aileron, throttle, mixture, prop control, etc, anything other than a switch or button. Don't let the terminology tree you. Normally the three flight axes, pitch (elevator), yaw (rudder) and roll ( aileron) come up automatically as axes, but it really doesn't matter. They all get treated the same. Dead band is to create a "dead zone" within an axis (or rotation). It's typically used for yoke and joysticks because they may not mechanically center with precision and repeatability. A dead band in the center makes it possible for FSX to ignore small differences in the "hands off" position they assume when released, avoiding that "heavy wing" effect. Simple linear controls that don't have a mechanical spring to center feature usually don't require any deadband and those can safely be set to zero. All this is subject to experimentation and trial and error; don't let it frustrate you. It's not the easiest or best documented part of FSX but it works if you pound on it long enough. needles 1,013
Can I just add also to Johns posts above, that as you are using fsuipc to control things, just make sure in your FSX settings, controls, that you uncheck 'Enable Controllers'. Otherwise there will be conflicting errors. Brian
patrico 8
Thank you very much John & Brian, I forgot to say that my FSUIPC controls were married to EZDOC and I spent much oof last night d/loading a new profile for my b7777. This FSXGenius really screwed me up as I read somewhere that you cannot marry up FSUIPC with EZDOC but then how did he do it? or do I just need FSUIPC to marry up with normal FSX controls, if so what have I got EZDOC for? needles 1,013
Ah! I have EZDOCK but have yet to really sit down and configure it. I found that jumping straight in without reading the manual, is not the way to go. Hence, I will, one day, sit and spend some time configuring it. Until that time though Patrick, I can not assist you with this bit. Sorry. Let's hope one of the other guys can chip in. Good luck Patrick.
allardjd 1,853
I don't have EZDOCK - don't even really know what it is, so I'm not going to be any help with that. John
dogtrack 346
Hello Patrick, if you have an account for "You Tube" and enter "EZDOCK" into the Search field; there are many instructional videos available. You will also find similar instructional videos for "FSUIPC". They are all free and can be downloaded to watch at your leisure. Will make excellent viewing for the coming winter evenings. If you are unable to download from You Tube currently, then you can use " Freemake Video Downloader", available from www.freemake.com a very handy utility.
