Captain Coffee 2,030
A couple of fun new aquires from the holiday sales. Razbam models this time of the T-2C Buckeye and A-7(a-7K, EA-7L, Ta-7C, Ta-7H...believe it was the Volume 3 variants of their many A-7 versions). For some reason the relatively pokeye-r Buckeye is funner for me to fly...not sure why, but I think it's just because it's somewhat odd appearance appeals to me. It's fairly quick at a 500+kt cruise. Ground speed is around 575 kts pushing it at 15,000 feet...plenty fast, but the scenery loading keeps up with it ... nice because it has very nice views from the bubble canopy. Test flying it over S.F. Bay area. Speedbrakes deployed...I love "Spoilers" that aren't on the wings. Actual speed brakes that scrub off speed without affecting lift. I use the "/" key on approaches to help control speed...very easy to toggle them on and off quick to scrub off 10 kts easy peasy. It makes it very easy to come in hot and avoid accidental stalls on landings. Hauling some courier documents... and butt... over Washington State mountain ranges once I got a couple test flights in, and confident enough to use it in Air Hauler. And the A-7 Corsair...much faster, hauls a lot more "ordinance/cargo"...and has a habit of flaming out on me. I'm certain it is something I am doing, but untill I figure out what it is I will not be using it in Air Hauler till sorted out. A quirk of installing this plane was that it killed the FSUIPC connection to Airhauler. It would open FSX after starting the job in Air Hauler, but the plane would be empty of fuel, and the "connection" remained gray, and no Airhauler messages popped. Took me about an hour or so of trial and error uninstalling/installing to figure out that the fix is as simple as rerunning the FSUIPC installer after the A-7 installer, and it all worked fine after. I have no idea why it messed with the FSUIPC...just glad I was able to repair it...panic averted. I had jobs accepted :O Hella aggressive looking plane...fitting for an attack role aircraft. The A-10 Warthog also looks intimidating...wonder if that is by accident or design I have no idea how to operate either of these jet's Autopilots, or even if they have one , and neither have GPS units...so I installed a makeshift set I can operate to Nav/Pitch/Altitude hold so I can grab a new beer or watch a movie while hauling. Thanks for looking. Hope you all have nice HoliDays.

hifly 925
Nice ones Matt. Got the SLUFF (Corsair) a while back, great for booming and zooming and had flameouts too. Have also the Swearinger Metro which IMO is a fantastic little runaround. Enjoy the hols.

Captain Coffee 2,030
The Buckeye is a delight to fly. It comes with a (prototype???) version with only one motor, as well as a bunch of two motor versions. The single engine varient is a gutless dog which I assume was meant to train pilots to hold their poo during short field takeoffs...as this plane makes nearly any length runway seem short....seriously...I rolled on the throttle the first flight and wanted to jump out and give it a push to help it get started But ya, the two engine versions get up and go fairly well. They are def sub sonic and not blazing fast accelerators, but they seem to climb out quite well at 200-250kts and hold the speed well. And again, 550 kts is just a pleasant High Cruise speed to tour one's scenery from a great bubble cockpit. Very pleased with both planes actually. Hifly: I picked up the Metroliner a while back...agree 100f% that it is a fantastic bird and is one of the few planes that I start up from cold and dark without hitting Ctrl-E...because Cntl-E doesn't really work hahaha. I prefer it over Carenado's b1900 for cargo hauling and not just because it hauls a lot more, although that is certainly a factor . It's mainly because I am really loving Razbam artwork on their models. They have a grittiness to them that the Carenado/Alabeo stuff is lacking. Its like the difference between Star Trek and Baybylon 5 ship interiors ... Star Trek/Carenado looks too clean to be a used ship...Babylon 5/Razbam looks scratched, stained, well used and dusty. Phil, Thanks...I owe it all to REX Direct and ORBx Global Base . I find myself leaving Global Base applied in the FTX Central rather than loading NA regions...the S.F. Bay area looks pretty much the same regardless of which is selected/loaded. Cheers.
