PSX receives even more polishing

The developer of PSX is continuing to hone the product even further: version 10.0.2 has received some new features and even more fine-tuning. To appreciate the care which is being taken over the most minute details, please see the following list of changes, in which — 

 

* indicates a feature which has been requested by 744 pilots

 

and

 

** indicates a feature which has been added because it has been observed on the real aircraft by 744 pilots, even though it disagrees with what is said in the maintenance manuals (something which is less unusual than you might imagine — in fact the development of PSX has already caused some of the official manuals to change to reflect the discoveries made during the huge research effort involving contributions from so many real world 744 pilots, which has resulted in such amazing fidelity to the real aircraft).

What's new?

 

Beta1:

 

0.2-0001. The FMC command speeds on the CLB, CRZ, DES pages are no longer linked with each other.

0.2-0002. APU fuel flow and APU EGT: Average additives adjusted for pack and APU generator operation.

0.2-0003. Instructor desktop position is now stored in the preferences file and reloaded at session start.

0.2-0004. Nose gear ground contact is now reduced when thrust is high at low speeds; requires push on elevator for better nose gear steering control.

0.2-0015. FMC POS REF 2/3: NAV STA line now indicates stations tuned for position updating, and not necessarily those shown on NAV RAD page.

0.2-0016. PNF's silent tasks: Flap speed additives can now be edited in pilot files.

0.2-0017. New airline option: CLB 1 and CLB 2 thrust derate washout altitudes can now be edited on Instructor > Model > Programming, and saved in model files.

0.2-0018. FQIS sensor lag reduced to avoid fuel disagree alert under extreme conditions.

0.2-0019. Bug cleared: Jettison rate was increased when network clients were connected.

0.2-0020. Automatic nav database installer added for next update (March).

0.2-0021. PFD: IAS trend arrow now works also when pitot fails.

0.2-0022. AIRSPEED LOW alert now linked with captain's selected ADC source.

0.2-0023. Flight deck frame title no longer inserts SERVER or CLIENT prefix when frame is undecorated (helps window title dependent apps).

0.2-0024. ESC key sometimes didn't hide the Instructor; now it does, always.

0.2-0025. PW4000: CRZ thrust limit is now slightly higher.

0.2-0026. AFDS: LNAV turn continuation is now even smoother.

0.2-0031. FMC: G/S altitude constraint in LEGS at final approach fix is now correctly copied from DEP/ARR database.

0.2-0032. EPR spike is now caused by EEC power-up, not by turbine start.

0.2-0033. EICAS jettison synoptic: Magenta flow from main tanks 2 & 3 now appears also when just FWD O/J pumps are on.

0.2-0034. Hydraulic fluid leak model: Average leaking rate is now twice as high.

0.2-0035. Pushing TO/GA, when A/P and FDs are off, will now engage FD and TO/GA modes only if IAS > 80 and flaps are out.

0.2-0036. Now, after IRS alignment, when sine/cosine test fails, NAV mode will not be entered and IRS advisory messages will appear.

0.2-0037. PNF's silent tasks: No fuel tasks anymore during jettison, suction feed, or imbalance.

0.2-0038. Vibration noise now occurs near sonic speed.

0.2-0039. PFD: When IAS tape blanks, wind & TAS data now blank as well.

0.2-0040. EGPWS: No minimums call anymore when amber RAD MINS flag is shown on captain's PFD.

0.2-0042. CDU: ACARS is now deselected (<ACT> label removed) when ACARS is unpowered.

0.2-0043. Structural damage (integrated in "severe" explosive decompression model) redesigned: Now includes tail destruction, vertical stabilizer separation, hydraulic fluid leaks, and less intensive instability.

0.2-0044. Structural damage (integrated in "severe" explosive decompression model) is triggered not only by inflight collisions, but now also at Mach 1.05.

0.2-0045. Lift reduction by wing icing is now less intensive. *

0.2-0046. A/P rudder control further improved for asymmetrical air drag (asymmetrical gear extension).

0.2-0047. Asymmetrical gear strut compression effect added to following configurations (based on analysis of Virgin VS-43 videos):

0.2-0049. Fuel imbalance influences the wing balance now also when on the ground.

0.2-0050. Bug cleared: Freighter air conditioning main deck temperature control was off when lower lobe air flow control was selected off.

0.2-0051. FMC ZFW: Valid entry range for freighters is now 160 to 290 tons.

0.2-0052. Instructor: ZFW range (physical) is now always 160 to 290 tons regardless of aircraft model (permits simulation of unusal configurations).

0.2-0053. Checkbox "Set zones by flight track and downloaded METARs": When checked, Voice-ATIS now uses data from the METAR world files instead of the 7 weather zones, thus it gets current data even if the associated airport is not in the 7 weather zones.

0.2-0054. Checkbox "Set zones by flight track and downloaded METARs": When checked, the simulated time will jump to real-world UTC now only if the "METAR download from Internet" checkbox is selected on Instructor > Preferences > Basics.

0.2-0055. Voice-ATIS range is now increased to 250 nm (line of sight rule remains the same).

0.2-0056. Voice-ATC: Tower now says QNH also at initial contact.

0.2-0057. ACARS ATIS is now D-ATIS with runway and transition level info.

0.2-0058. Network: Double ejection of injected traffic data is now eliminated.

0.2-0059. Injected ground traffic no longer appears on TCAS.

0.2-0060. FMC: In CRZ too, E/O SPD is always KIAS, not Mach. *

0.2-0080. LNAV: Fixed a SID teardrop direction problem when start is an altitude condition and climb performance is high.

0.2-0081. PW: Decimal on N2 display on upper and lower EICAS is now removed.

 

Beta4:

 

0.2-0082. GE: Restart by starter motor is now possible only when N2 has spooled down below 30% (20% when on ground and autostart on). During start, starter cutout will occur at 50% as usual.

0.2-0083. Bug cleared: Modification 0.2-0081. blanked the PW's N2 tapes.

Beta6:
0.2-0084. Modification 0.2-0046. caused slight A/P rudder oscillation in severe crosswind; this is eliminated now.

Beta7:
0.2-0085. Network: Tiller injection is now reset only when the rudder pedals are moved, not when any flight control is moved.

Beta8:
0.2-0086. RR: Thrust derate TO-1 is now set to -10%.
0.2-0087. RR, PW: Thrust derates TO-1 and TO-2 re-adjusted.

0.2-0088. Bug cleared: APU FF was multiplied by amount of network clients.

0.2-0094. A/T: When TO/GA pitch mode is engaged, THR mode now increases thrust even if the aircraft is not climbing. *
0.2-0095. PNF: "Check your speed" call now triggers at -10/+30 kt instead of +/-10 kt.

Beta12:
0.2-0096. FD crossbar & V-bar: As usual, shown even when onside FD switch is off while any TO/GA mode is engaged. But now the FD blanks again when both roll and pitch modes have changed to a non-TO/GA mode. *

Beta13:
0.2-0097. ATIS runway setter now ignores EDDF 18/36.
0.2-0098. ATC runway setter now ignores EDDF 18/36 for ARR, 36 for DEP.
0.2-0099. Scenery runway generator now simplifies when runway length is less than 1000 m instead of 1400 m.
0.2-0100. Injected ground traffic now keeps pitch & bank at zero, and won't sink below local elevation.
0.2-0101. Modification 0.2-0001. now sets FMC DES SPD to TRANS LVL SPD or RESTR SPD if aircraft is already below respective reference when changing from CRZ to DES phase.

Beta14:
0.2-0102. A/T and FCC pitch control further fine-tuned for go-around initialization.

Beta15:
0.2-0103. Engine spool up/down induced aircraft pitch momentum is now a bit stronger.
0.2-0104. Modification 0.2-0102. will not allow thrust decrease anymore, just thrust increase, even when above 2000 fpm. *
0.2-0105. Modification 0.2-0093. is now very flexible and robust.
0.2-0106. EICAS CLB 1 / CLB 2 indication now changes to CLB when above washout altitude. *

Beta16:
0.2-0107. Pitch-up momentum at high thrust in flight slightly increased. *
0.2-0108. Engine spool trend induced aircraft pitch velocity slightly increased. *
0.2-0109. Autothrottle TLA velocity now slightly higher during GA initialization. *
0.2-0110. CLB page: 5L now has <ALL ENG key when e/o detected during tkof. *

"Beta 16 is, in all likelihood, the last test round for version 10.0.2".

0.2-0111. Air-ground transition on sloped runways caused a tiny little, momentary airspeed fluctuation; this is eliminated now.

Beta18:

0.2-0112. E/O speed will no longer drop below flap up speed.

0.2-0113. CLB page 5L <ALL ENG key now resets V2 additive limit from +10 to +25, and re-applies the all-engines acceleration height.



Beta 18 is the last test round for version 10.0.2.
