Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Introduction

20.00hrs, Belfast City Aerodrome.

Briefing :

To fly my aircraft to Edingburgh.

Simple?

The 1940's was a dark period indeed. The might of the Nazis was bearing down on to a defence-no-more Britian. Thats were Herman Goering and Hilter were wrong. The RAF fought, and won.

Fast foward to 1943, and Bomber Harris was waging war above Germany. With the help of some 250000 aircrew. Of them, 55000 would die. The Lancaster, Halifax and Sterling were his machines.

So, here we are at 20.28.18 hrs (local) at Belfast City

Ending

As I said before, 55,000 aircrew died for Britian in the war from Bomber Command.

Their sacrifice is often overlooked or frowned upon, due to the incredible loss of life on the ground.

But some people forget, they were fighting for what was good and free.
