Been there (as most USN veterans have).  Most of what we saw flying were F4s, A6s and S2s.  Lots of them.  

 

I think maybe the red light in the background is a VASI for Oceana NAS.

No, that's Norfolk Intl (KORF), runway 14.

I think John is talking about the red vasi light in the far right corner beyond Norfolk Intl.

 

Nice shot Jury, I went there as a kid when my uncle was in the Navy and later on when I was stationed in Virginia.

Foreground runway - Norfolk NS (KNGU),  in the far right corner beyond KNGU - red VASI light Intl (KORF), runway 14, I landed there.

My bad, had to look at the map to get my bearings. Oceana NAS is further out on the same heading.
