Leg 19 - FAPI - FSIA Part 2 FQBR to FQPB

Well here is part 2 of leg 19, after a short stay at FQBR (Beira in central Mozambique), it was time to take flight again for the next phase of our leg to FSIA.

Thinking it was going to be a simple and straight as the crow flies flight, we prepared ourselves for this part of the leg, only to be informed by ATC that the AP was under IFR conditions, 'What' I asked CP looking out the window, the MET looked fine for a non-IFR flight, Oh well guess we will just have to comply then, so lets file for an IFR plan then.

Cleared for take off, instructions to fly Rwy heading and climb to and maintain 5000ft. So off we go then. Wheels up.

Handed of to Beira control and they vector us onto course, with the instructions to maintain 5000ft and maintain own navigation.

So we comply and engage AP, which corrects our heading for a direct to FQPB.

'CP those clouds ahead look a bit like they can have some strike in them, and ATC has kept us at 5000ft, I think we need to request clearance to 11000ft, lets see if we can get over this lot.

Now I am beginning to see why FQBR was so insistant only allowing IFR flights out of the AP. things are very rough and murky up here and the rain is really heavy.

Ok so much for our own flight plan, we are back under ATC control, and they start to vector us left and right, left and right, :thumbup: I wish they would make up thier minds which way they want us to go, 'Ok Cp turn us left onto heading 020*.

Ok CP, ATC is instructing us to begin our decent to 3500ft, 'Lets go down'

After being chased all over the sky we are finally settled on final straight in approach, and instructed to decend to 2300ft.

Handed over to FQPB (Pemba), but man this ATC has left us high on the approach, steep approach required here, 'CP give me full flaps, lets get this baby down some way or we are going to overshoot the runway' (no ILS at FQPB)

We made it, down and stopped with plenty of rwy left to spare, man am I glad we are in the Pilatus, it is designed for these sort of high and short approaches.

Parked up at the pumps, need to fill up before we start the next phase of our flight.
