fighterpilot 0
Hi Lads! Here is another set of shots from Gothenburg Landvetter airport, ICAO: ESGG. A shame there was no Airbuses there, but it's a quite small airport so you can't expect airplanes you normally will see at Heathrow. Feel free to use as deskop if you want to  And again, sorry for the bad quality on some of the shots, Landvetter only has a little "room" that will allow people to take a look at the runway, and they never clean these windows so they are quite dirty. And I can't understand why they not open up the balcony  anyway, enjoy! I know Im not the best at taking photos but it still look like a plane on the pictures, right? Thanks for looking. mutley 4,497
Ooh we were just talking about 146's making heavy landings at LCY. Love the DHL 757. Great shots and interesting to see you have the same weather as us although the snow here has all but gone now Cheers
allardjd 1,853
Not bad photos at all. Loved the freigher at the end. What's going on at the aft fuselage in the second photo? Is that a speed brake? Had never noticed that before. John
fighterpilot 0
when I first got there the 146 already was at the gate with the speed brakes up. Maintenance maybe?

grth_bbtt 0
Great shots there! Some great traffic that ive yet to see at any airport ive visited AT JOHN- The reason the BAE 146 has this spoiler on the back of the fueselage is so that it creates no noise with reverse thrust engines to slow it down. This is one of the main reasons it flies out of London city due to being quiet, to prevent noise pollution to the surrounding area.
allardjd 1,853
Thanks, Gareth. So it's a speed brake for ground use? Is it also used in flight? It appears to be a pretty sizeable set of barn doors. I've never noticed them open in other photos of the 146, though probably just overlooked them. John
grth_bbtt 0
There are spoliers on top of the wings which act as the ground spoilers. The spoilers on the back and the strong brakes replace the need for reverse thrust on the engines. You can see the rear spolier here-:
