simi_av8r 0
hey guys, having not flown FS9 for ages, i'd totally forgotten that my coastline seems to have gone a bit odd. Sadly i've no pictures, but I'll try and describe the problem to the best of my ability. Basically, all coastlines and land areas bordering water (i.e. lakes, rivers etc.) the world over have become straight edges and extend out into the water where they should be smoothed to a more realistic shape. Taking the UKs South Coast as an example, the area of the Solent and Isle Of Wight is one large land mass, with flattened land where the water should be. All coastline edges along the coast are straight edged by square shapes, and not smoothed out as would be the case normally. The problem is apparent when actually in the sim, using the in-game map, and top-down view zoomed out a good distance.... Now, my only problem is that i'm not sure what i've (un-)installed or when it happened. As i've largely used the sim from inland areas where rivers are few and far between, its difficult to track down the source of the issue. Anybody got a clue as to what could be happening? I've looked at my SRTM data, and reinstalled FSGlobal to no avail, so i'm hoping somebody knows a setting in the FS9.cfg file that could affect terrain detail around the coast? mutley 4,497
Sounds like the global texture max texture slider on the hardware tab needs pushing to the right? I haven't installed FS9 on my new machine but hopefully you will get some help here Simi. Cheers
mutley 4,497
Have you got set TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21 ?
simi_av8r 0
Sounds like the global texture max texture slider on the hardware tab needs pushing to the right? everything is maxed out, apart from the FPS locking slider, and that's set at 30. I've tried everything, so my only guess is an fs9.cfg alteration i made some time ago, but what or where it is in the file i can't remember! Have you got set TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21 ? I think so, yes...usually its the first thing i check, but i'll have to do it first thing in the morning, i've just got home from Blockbusters with a copy of Transformers to watch! mutley 4,497
How about taking a sideways copy of FS9.cfg then deleting the original it so FS9 builds a new one then reboot and start the sim to see how it is. You will need to add back in your favourite tweaks one-by-one but it may resolve your problem. Cheers EDIT: Enjoy Transformers !!
CyprusAirwaysA330 0
I had this problem too, I too posted for help here but I never resolved it ... a clean install of FS9 did the trick though.
