SEATAC 400
There I was, relaxing in Machuka. The one place I thought I could get away from it all. I needed time to unwind from the rat race and more importantly, to study the flight and systems manuals for the Boeing 767 for which I recently came into possession, courtesy of Mutley. Been here for two weeks now. No cell phone. No laptop. No television. No distractions. Miles from any populated area. My only communication with the outside world was through Rajan, the gentleman from whom I was renting this small dwelling. Far from fancy, it consisted of little more than a bed and a roof over my head with a wash basin in the back. The only source of heat was from a small stove near the center of the room, wood stacked carelessly outside the door. Just a place to unwind. The world could have come to an end and I wouldn

mutley 4,498
Superb PIREP Richard, a great entrance into the challenge, you have some great imagination and writing skills there Very timely entrance of the Mossie too with the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain nearly upon us. I really enjoyed this classic post in the true spirit of the challenge. Thanks for getting us safely to Paro and not too much to drink in that bar!! My drinks bill is going to be terribly difficult to explain to the Taxman (IRS) I have arranged for a VIP flight back to Machuka for you so you can hide away again. Cheers Joe ATW001
ddavid 149
Doncha love the Mossie, Richard - flown by the best, too! Great set of shots and a really good narrative - thanks for sharing! And getting me out of this place.... Cheers - Dai.

SEATAC 400
Thanks everyone. Dai, you're in good hands with Remington. We'll have you out soon. I'm looking forward to that VIP flight Mutley. I hope it's in a Lear or Citation.
needles 1,013
:atwc: Well done Rich' a great story and great screenies. Poor old Dai must be getting desperate by now That'll teach him to linger longer than he should in places he should have known better than to visit Don't worry Dai, Remington will get the Baton to Mut' and you should b home and dry. Have they tortured you yet? My kindest regards to you Dai. Keep your very British upper lip firmly stiffened mate.
remingtonbox 18
That was an inspiring although intimidating report. Boy, it looks like you all have a lot more hope in me than I do but we will see. Can I get the number of the dude you are renting from? That sounds like a nice escape from reality! Oh, and check the hanger, the guy that runs the airport is restoring a FW190 and I'll be in there helping him if I am not on a training flight. I have been camped out here for a couple days now, you probably saw my tent when you flew in.
SEATAC 400
Thanks for the tip Remington. While you are busy rescuing Dai, I'll have a go at that FW190. Did you hear me buzz your tent when I made my flyby? I fired off a few rounds from the guns to wake you.
